eek i wish it were the end of march too…because that’s my birthday haha. but i submitted mine on the 30th as well and still haven’t gotten a confirmation. it’s probably just taking them a long time.

@prinanp, i’m not exactly sure about the way barnard does it, but i know a lot of other colleges don’t confirm about receiving supplementary materials, like art/music or additional letters. i’m sure they got em though. hope that helps :)

And I submitted my application ON January 1st, not even the 30th. But like some others have said, it just seems to be taking Barnard a long time to sort things out. Hope all of you receive your information soon!

I was in New York this weekend and went back to see Barnard again…it confirmed how much I want to be there! Counting down the days to the end of March…

I agree! I think it’s ironic that my username is nyuhopeful, when I realized that Barnard is so much more for me than NYU (and I didn’t even apply to NYU!) I seriously just wish I could know NOW whether or not I could go. My biggest fear is that I’ll get waitlisted. I’ll still be caught in limbo if that happens!

NYU was on my initial list but after visiting this past summer I knew it wasn’t right for me.

I really think I can get into Barnard but one can’t ever be too sure of themself in a situation like this. I shouldn’t place all my eggs in one basket but Barnard has been my dream school since forever.

I didn’t visit NYU, but slowly figured out last year that it’s just not the school for me. Barnard didn’t start out as my dream school, but after learning about it, it became it. I don’t really know what my chances of getting in are; I’m hoping they really use the essays to our advantage!

^ That article is terrifying! There is no way I can last until March. It’s killing me.

Agh! I mean, I guess that’s great, but it’s not helping my nerves! Based on the average stats, I felt hesitantly confident about my chances but it sounds like admissions will be a lot more competitive this year.

I snuck off my NYU tour early; it stopped being worth my time when I realized how much the tour guide was trying to emphasize NYU’s weakest points. When he started preaching about the “campus”, athletics, and housing, I was done. Then again, after my Barnard interview that morning, nothing could really compare.

does anyone know when exactly the results are coming out? when i visited they said they mail out the results but that i would get an email because I live abroad

For the past several years, results have come out during the last week of March. And, indeed, international applicants get e-mail results first.

Joining this thread. So do Barnard acceptances only come in the mail? I live all the way across the country, so I wonder if that means I’ll have to wait longer…

I’m hoping we find out soon. When I first started applying to colleges, Barnard was quite a ways down my list because I wasn’t sure about an all girls school (idk if any of you have been worried about that too.) But as I think about it more and more…it really does seem like the best of both worlds. I’ve been realizing even for me it might be difficult to move to a totally different state and attend a big university. Barnard will give me that small community aspect, while still having a big university nearby.

Any way, just my two cents. I’m getting super nervous though!! I noticed a lot of you guys also had interest in NYU, and I too wanted to go to NYU for the longest time. But when I visited last year I didn’t like it at all. :S I /LOVE/ NYC, but I’m not sure if I’m willing to sacrifice a real college feel for NYC.

Ha. For the longest time I was absolutely sure that I was going to apply to NYU as Early Decision. Then I visited the “campus” and immediately crossed it off.

I had no idea about Barnard, and was kind of skeptical about the whole “women’s college” aspect, but have come to realize that it’s perfect and amazing in every way.

Unfortunately, it’s true that people will find out results on different days. And, from watching this process for several years running now, geographic proximity to Banrard does not always seem to dictate who gets results sooner. I want to think that I have seem where some who lived farther away got results before some who lived fairly close. But, as a rule, I should think people in more remote areas (maybe not large metro areas?? ) might get their results later than others…??

Sorry guys! But it is MUCH sooner than it has been!! :)
