101 ways to make your man whatever

That actually made me laugh. You know how they have racks of magazines in supermarkets near the cashiers? Whenever I'm waiting in line, I always glance at the covers of the magazines, and there's always something like that on the cover of a Cosmo. I've never actually read anything in it, though.

I'm not a guy.

Oh, I thought you were because you wrote something in the thread about the most attractive race, and you were talking about girls, so I assumed you were a guy. Sorry.

Girls: Do you wear make-up?
Yep

...everyday or frequently? or only for dates or going out?
everyday, although I use more for dates or big parties

...if you do wear it frequently, do you feel self-conscious or insecure when you're not wearing it?
Depends on where I am. Usually, if I'm going au natural and everyone around me is made up and reasonably well coiffed, I'll feel awkward. But if I'm at the gym or Target or something, I'm totally fine not wearing makeup. That said, I usually put on makeup just to go to Target or run errands, just because I know I'll probably want it at some point later in the day.

...Do you get more compliments and more attention when you are?
Well, maybe at parties, but that's probably less about makeup and more about the nicer clothes (read: slutty shirts?)

How much makeup do you wear?
I always use some foundation on spots or red areas, but I use it like concealer (I use bareminerals, so you can just keep adding layers with firmer brushes... pretty sweet deal.) Also, I usually wear mascara... I don't feel like I put a lot on, or at least I don't make it so thick that clumps up, but I do pretty radically change the look of my eyelashes with it, just because they're so short naturally. Then, some Carmex or Burt's Bees, and some blush or bronzer.

...Do you feel more self-confident about yourself?
I guess so. I just always feel more positive and awake I guess when I look like I didn't just roll out of bed.

How much do you spend on makeup?
Mmm the only expensive products I own are nars blush (which I don't even use all that much; I have another cute peach one that was like ten bucks) and then the bareminerals foundation, but that lasts forever. Oh gosh the bareminerals brushes are also expensive, but they're really nice, and worth the money in my opinion.

Do you have an expensive handbag too?
I have a major weakness for Coach, but I only have two actual bags, and they're both pretty small. I have two wristlets, too.

How many handbags do you have?
Oh boy I also love purses from the gap, but there are only like two purses that I actually use on a regular basis, and one is more like a tote.

Are you swayed by consumer culture?
Well, I keep up with that kind of thing, but I don't usually, eh, adapt my lifestyle or rush out to buy the new hot whatever. So, I pay attention, but it doesn't substantially affect me, maybe?

Do you get your eyebrows waxed?
I've naturally got really thin eyebrows, so I just pluck occasionally. I'm so worried that getting them waxed would like rip off the whole eyebrow.

Do you get tanned? (either lying outside in bikini or being baked in a tanning oven).
Oh boy, I freckle and burn. I've only been to a tanning salon once, and I thought it was kind of gross and weird. I lay out at the pool and stuff, or at the beach, but I don't usually go out of my way.

Manicures and pedicures?
I've never had either. I'm a violinist, so my nails are perpetually short, and i hate when people touch my feet. I give myself at-home pedis though, sometimes, with a pumice stone and cuticle trimmer and buffer and the such.

Hair salons? ($100 hair coloring versus $7 box of Loreal @ Rite-Aid?)
I've gotten pretty expensive lowlights sometimes, but actually I liked the ones I got done by a junior stylist more than I liked the ones by one of the supposedly better colorists at my salon. I usually just dye my hair out of a box, though, when I change it. I just used Loreal natural match recently, and I liked it okay. I've had pretty good luck with haircolor.

How much do you spend on beauty products?
Eh, not that much. I don't hesitate to spend money on good products, necessarily, but i HATE accumulating a bunch of stuff, so I try to avoid buying things I don't think I'll use, which cuts down on my spending.

Having to buy bras for 40 bucks a pop at VS doesn't help either.
I love VS bras. So cute, hella comfortable, etc. I get nearly all of my undies elsewhere, though.

Also, what do you think of corsets?
I think they look too much like an uncomfortable and awkward costume. Some people maybe could look glamorous, but I am not one.

Fake eyelashes?
I've never tried. I don't plan to. A girl at my senior prom wore fake eyelashes and one fell halfway off in the middle of the night and looked pretty tragic.

Fake nails?
I put them on in middle school sometimes but I always had to rip them off like two or three days later because of violin.

fake hair?
Uhhh ew.

What type of underwear do you wear (bikini, low rise, thong, v/g-string, brazillian, tangas, etc.....)?
I love boy briefs (like from american eagle) and lacy brazilians, but I'm open to thongs and the such.

Do you guys like body lotion/spray? Bath & Body Works? etc.
I wear St. Ives body lotion, plus sometimes Johnson's baby lotion on my hands. I don't usually use body spray, but I have some perfumes I really like (lollia makes consistently amazing scents. You can get it at stores like anthropologie).

What's your skin-care routine? Do you have pimples or the occasional bump? Murad? Pro-Activ? Clinique?
I tried pro-activ, and that worked for a while, but I think my skin maybe built up some resistance to it somehow, because my skin eventually got bad again. Right now, I wash my face with biore products and then use an astringent that has some sort of antibacterial stuff in it, plus sulfur (uhh i think?) to soak up oil... my pharmacy mixes it, actually, and i think my dermatologist might have invented it or something. Really.

Do you wear sunscreen everyday? What SPF?
Eh, it's in my foundation, but i really only use the foundation as a spot concealer... I know I should.

Are you happy with the way you look? *
Eh, enough. I'd love perfect skin or a toned butt, but whatever. I don't really try that hard.

What are you self-conscious about?
Oh boy my thighs, man.

What things have you done to alleviate any of your perceived "flaws"?
I work out sometimes, but I don't know if I've really seen results. I feel good afterwards, though, so that keeps me going back for more.

What's your style? Fashion? Brands?
Eh, I get a lot of basic clothes at old navy actually... just, solid colored shirts and stuff. I like american eagle a lot, but I hate when they have their brand name plastered across the front of things. I also really like forever 21 for pretty original looking clothing, as well as urban outfitters, but considering prices at urban, their clothing is just sooo poorly made.

What do you think about $100-200++++ priced jeans? Why?
Gosh I'm kind of lusting after a pair of citizens, but I really just can't justify spending that much money on pants, especially because gap jeans just fit me so well, and they go on sale at good times.

What magazines do you subscribe to?
Just cosmo (that's embarassing), but I've been meaning to get a prescription to the new yorker.

Tampons or pads?
I used to wear mostly pads, or wear a tampon with a pad as like... backup protection or whatever (I have such a huge phobia about leaking). But now I mostly just wear tampons. pads at night.

What type of underwear do you wear (bikini, low rise, thong, v/g-string, brazillian, tangas, etc.....)?

Low-rise Hipsters, preferably VS Pink.

Do you guys like body lotion/spray? Bath & Body Works? etc.

Yep! I use unscented Curel for my everyday lotion, but I LOVE the Temptations line at Bath and Body Works! I also like the new cucumber scent. I can't take anything that's floral or really strong, so these are prefect!

Are you happy with the way you look? What are you self-conscious about?

Overall, yeah. I think I have a cute shape. However, I wish I could be taller (or at least have longer legs and a shorter torso!), and find a way to make my lower body less "curvy".

What things have you done to alleviate any of your perceived "flaws"?

Well, I walk several times a week (probably a couple of miles each time. I tried running but I just have too many pre-existing problems with my feet and ankles. :( ) and have been trying to clean up my diet.

What's your style? Fashion? Brands?

What ever I think is cute and fits the dress code for my major. Generally jeans or khakis and a polo. I don't really stick with any particular brand.

What do you think about $100-200++++ priced jeans? Why?

Too much for a pair jeans!! I wear jeans year-round (yes, even in the heat/humidity of a Texas summer!), and they all seem to wear out pretty quick regardless of brand or price.

What magazines do you subscribe to? (Doesn't necessarily need to be Seventeen, Vogue, Cosmopolitan... throw in Economist, Nat'l Geographic etc)

Seventeen (even though I'm probably too old, I still like most of their fashion spreads, and that their make-up suggestions are usually really practical), Marie Claire (I feel way too young to read this one, but they also usually have good fashion spreads), US weekly, Newsweek, Family Fun (class project ideas!) and Martha Stewart Living (since I was 8!). I also read Rolling Stone and random photography magazines at the library.

Tampons or pads?
Pads!

Omg how could I have forgotten to mention Burt's Bees!! Thanks for saying that melanieek, seriously I can't survive a day without it! It's not just a girl product either, a bunch of guys I know use it as well. Its the ultimate cure for chapped lips, just use it once and your lips will be the smoothest they've ever felt!

How much do you spend on makeup?
$-idk, time-15 mins

Do you have an expensive handbag too?

How many handbags do you have?

Do you get your eyebrows waxed?
occasionally

Do you get tanned? (either lying outside in bikini or being baked in a tanning oven).
no, i have fair skin so i don't really tan that well anyways

Manicures and pedicures?
only manicures

Hair salons? ($100 hair coloring versus $7 box of Loreal @ Rite-Aid?)
i get highlights, but only from this lady my mom knows, so its less $$, lol

How much do you spend on beauty products?
hmmm...idk

Having to buy bras for 40 bucks a pop at VS doesn't help either.
lol, idk wut this questions asking

Also, what do you think of corsets?
well, i'd like to try one on sometime...lol

Fake eyelashes?
no

Fake nails?
no, i paint my own nails

fake hair?
uh...no

What type of underwear do you wear (bikini, low rise, thong, v/g-string, brazillian, tangas, etc.....)?
low rise and bikini

Do you guys like body lotion/spray? Bath & Body Works? etc.
Body lotion rom B&B and perfume

What's your skin-care routine? Do you have pimples or the occasional bump? Murad? Pro-Activ? Clinique? OTC products, St. Apricot's
Pro-Activ, i still have pretty many pimples though

Do you wear sunscreen everyday? What SPF?
I have spf in my foundation and face lotions- 20spf, n then when i remember to put it on the rest of my body i use 30 or 45

Are you happy with the way you look? *
Not really

What are you self-conscious about?
I don't like my mouth/lips or my nose

What things have you done to alleviate any of your perceived "flaws"?
i wear makeup i guess, but it doesnt really help those flaws too much

What's your style? Fashion? Brands?
I love hollister, american eagle, pac sun, i think abercrombie is too expensive though, and i wear jeans, skirts, sweaters, shirst, blah blah blah

What do you think about $100-200++++ priced jeans? Why?
way too expensive

What magazines do you subscribe to? (Doesn't necessarily need to be Seventeen, Vogue, Cosmopolitan... throw in Economist, Nat'l Geographic etc)
Seventeen is the best

Tampons or pads?
Pads, tampons are too confusing

I'm shocked at how many of y'all use pads. They're just so gross to me. I haven't used them since 8th grade (and I only used them for a few months after starting) :/

do you wear makeup?

..everyday or frequently? or only for dates or going out?

not extremely frequently, but sometimes, when I look like crap from lack of sleep, or I'm going somewhere special/nice. I also try not to put on too much of it cuz, hey, I'm not fifty or anything, and excessive makeup is bad for your skin. Girls need to realize that at their age, they're as beautiful as they'll ever be, and really don't need makeup. Sleep is enough! Plus, it's also a waste of time.

...if you do wear it frequently, do you feel self-conscious or insecure when
you're not wearing it?

Not unless i KNOW i look like the creature from the lagoon, or if I'm around a particular boy ;)

...Do you get more compliments and more attention when you are?

Not necessarily - I try not to put on too much, the point of makeup is to enhance the details of your face, but only enough to blend in with the rest of your face. In fact, I feel even more self-conscious when I get a compliment for makeup - it's like, what, I'm ugly w/o it, or something? Or is the makeup too obvious? Stuff like that.

How much makeup do you wear? Eyeliner and eyeshadow only? Something like this or more like this? (More natural looking as opposed to... full-face)

Natural - mostly just a bit of blush and lipgloss, but it depends. If I have a terrible pimple scar I'll use concealer, and if I have a bit of time or a special occasion, i'll use a bit of foundation + eyeshadow, or even mascara. (i'm one of these who always gets very obviously smudged mascara)

...Do you feel more self-confident about yourself?

I use makeup enough that I don't notice when I go out without it, which I'm glad of, and sometimes I'll curse that I don't have any on, but mostly I'm pretty comfortable without it.
