Give Advice For Someone Whos Applying Penn 2011

Im a high school junior and I need to get ready for applying next year. I really want to go to Wharton, scratch that, I NEED TO GO TO WHARTON!!! So if you guys can give me some advice such as: What you think I need to have in order to get into U-Penn? And other advice that you can give me. It would be really appreciated. Thanks.

dont sound crazy.
give stats (we'll tell you how to brush them up)
don't make wharton your life
start making money

Start your essay and make sure it's perfect by the time you turn it in.

do you know if they change their essay topics every year? Because it would suck so bad if I started essays and they changed the topic by the time I apply.

Don't write your essay yet. If you edit it for a 9 months, it's going to sound very old and won't sound fresh at all. I'd say start writing your essay maybe at the end of summer vacation, but do take it seriously--it's very important.

My advice? Leave this site; enjoy your junior year; work hard; have fun; and do good on SATs/ GPA.

here's some info on me:

i go to one of the most prestigous catholic schools in the state
my average is a 93.5
i rank 6 out of my class
i volunteer like crazy i have 80 hours this year since october
im editor-in-chief of the school newspaper

I agree and disagree with newyorker. During the spring of my junior year, I vowed to never go on CC because it was intimidating. I didn't have the highests stats and whenever I saw the post from people with high stats I doubted myself. Never doubt yourself. Now, on the other hand, CC has is a very useful resource. I used it during the beginning of my Senior year to get some insight into the whole admissions process. It's a way for you to get information you wouldn't normally get somewhere else. Take the chances thread with a grain of salt because college admissions is a tricky process. It's hard to speculate whether you'll get in or not. keep your grades up, try your best, and when your filling out your application, make sure Penn knows you tried your best. I agree with newyorker, you're still a junior so continue to work hard and have fun along the way.
