What does Penn (Wharton) look for?

College admissions season is over and it is just about to begin for us juniors. To those of you who were admitted this year, what do ytou think were important factors that got you into the school? Were you creative, funny, serious? What did you put on your resume that made you stand out?

make sure you come off confident, but not arrogant in your resume

I was dead serious in all the essays I wrote.

You don't really submit a resume.... but when you are forced to pick out the activities to list, try to pick activities with a general theme to them to show passion in an area or two

How does Penn look at the SAT Writing section?

That's a great question for an admissions officer. Perhaps you ought to give yours a call or email?

My advice is to be, above all, honest and genuine in your writing and your interview. Demonstrate a compelling reason for wanting to attend the university and your suitability for it and you will be noticed. Make it about you and your situation rather than about how great a school Penn is and how much you'd love to be there (they already know that!). Ask yourself why they ought to admit YOU instead of other people who have the same or better academic/extracurricular qualifications.

Don't think that you have to make it seem like you are a only about business. They wan't well-rounded individuals just like the rest of the world.

definite leaders with lots of leadership positions

Every person's admissions story is going to be different. Someone posted said you don't submit a resume, but I did. Some will say you need to be serious in your essays, mine was fairly humorous. And above all everyone is going to say you need to have a perfect 2400 on your SAT's to get in, you don't (got into Wharton with an 1890).

Be true to yourself and who you are. Let the admissions office know what you can bring to the class of 2011 and you'll be fine.

Anyone know when they will post the class of 2010 stats on their website?

Great passion and a personality that matches well with Penn (with the activities to prove it).

Academics is a given.

whats a personality that matches with penn?

can you transfer into wharton?

Yes, but it is extremely difficult.

it might be difficult...but not impossible....i got admitted....so dont lose hope.
