Your grades are fine, and your ACT is respectable, but it is a little low for many of the colleges on your list. Is it safe to presume that you grew up speaking Chinese? Frankly, I would drop Vanderbilt from the list, since your composite ACT is below their 25th percentile and they famously put a lot of weight on test scores. I would probably ditch Rice, Tufts, Duke, and Cornell, too. Apply ED to Barnard, EA to Northeastern, and then try to create a realistic, balanced list. If Barnard doesn’t accept you, probably Duke and Cornell won’t either.

@woogzmama thank you

Vanderbilt, Duke, Hopkins, Georgetown and UChicago are reaches… the rest you seem to have a fair chance at, especially NYU, Tufts, and Berkeley. Your ACT score isn’t amazing but your GPA is very good, which is a plus point.

What is your unweighted GPA?
Also, what went wrong in the math section of the ACT? You’re in AP Calc, so it’s obviously not a case of you not having taken the correct classes.

@glittervine IDK. Standardized testing math sections have been hard for me. I usually run out of them.

I’d say UChicago, Duke, Cornell, Georgetwon, JHU and Tufts will probably be unlikely for admissions, but the other low reaches such as USC and UC Berkley are definitely good potential matches

Barnard College: ED accepted
