Give me some SAT advice

hi

Just today I starting considering retaking the SAT on Jan 28 (i emailed and checked and a good number of my schools WILL accept it).
i've only taken it once and i got a 2080 (670CR, 740M, and 670W). I'm applying to mostly LACs so my math score tends to be significantly above average while my CR score is quite low.. 25th percentile or so. Do you think it's worth retaking? By the way i'm applying to williams, dartmouth, middlebury, bates, oberlin, grinnell, and macalester (and some safeties i'm not too concerned about right now) .... i have a fairly good GPA/courseload and ECs.. do you think it will be worth my time/effort to retake??

thank you

45 hits but no responses??
i just want people's opinions...come on.

Bump.

the way i see it, a higher score definitely outweighs the time/effort. 25th percentage is not where you want to be.

then again, i havent even taken a sat

Definitely retake for those schools.

ummm.. it depends on u actually... if u hav got a good GPA.. good curriculars.. n good essays ull make it easily.. then again a high SAT score is always an advantage.. up2 u..

You definitely want to retake for Williams and Dartmouth...I don't know much about admissions of some of those, but you should be fine for Macalester...However, a better SAT score will definitely help you and if you do worse it's not going to hurt you. I say retake if possible

I'd retake. I'm retaking for the third time with a 670 cr (too low for all my schools, must break 700!), 720m (in the middle for the most part), and 770 w (definately going to be at or above 75th percentile) hoping for a slight cr and m improvement. You don't have much to lose. If you have a really good gpa, essays, and ec's then really can go either way. If not, you might as well if you think you can improve. I'm also applying to Dartmouth. Good luck!
