There are some pretty old threads re GLP–anyone with any more current insight/opinions/information about the program? Thanks!
Our son is currently in the program and it was one of the highlights of his freshman year in the Marshall School of Business. The class meets once a week, on Fridays, and the class is CR/NC. During the first semester, the students meet with CEO and other executives and masters of industry. The executives tell their stories and the students conduct Q & A sessions with them. In the second semester, the focus is on China and the program culminates in the students spending spring break in China (Beijing and Shangai). Our son loved both the class and spring break abroad. I would strongly encourage any USC students who have the opportunity to take the class to do so.
Thanks for the info! So the program continues for all 4 years? I have had trouble finding specific details about it. Is it in effect a concentration, i.e., if S was interested in applying for the Business Cinematic Arts concentration would it be a one or the other thing do you know? Are there more required classes in later years? Thanks so much!
GLP is just a one year program and it is only open to freshman. I believe that students who received scholarships are offered a place in GLP and I don’t know how other students in Marshall get in (or if anyone in Marshall can get into GLP).
Students in Marshall ultimately obtain a bachelor’s degree in either Business Administration or Accounting. Regarding concentrations, that refers to three upper level courses which are typically taken at the end of a student’s time at USC and are geared towards a specific field, such as Cinematic Arts, Data Science or Entrepreneurship. But Marshall no longer requires that a student take all three upper level courses in the same field.
Finally, USC Marshall has numerous programs that are designed to give students international experiences. Here is the link that shows the various opportunities for students who want global experiences–

My son is a junior in Marshall/Leventhal School of accounting. He loved the GLP program freshman year, which included spring break trip to China plus return to China for summer internship. This semester, he is studying business in Helsinki and having the time of his life. Tip: combine accounting major with minor in engineering school on enterprise information systems. He loves it and is very attractive to recruiters. Had offers for job this summer from three of big four accounting firms.
Thank you for the input @cookie16 !
