I'm not really much of a collegeconfidential user, I have logged on a few times and read threads for only two schools. Right now, Notre Dame is my top choice and I am experiencing many of the same emotions you have expressed. I would like to say this to all of you:

God has a plan for each one of you. EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON. It is quite evident that each and every one of you has done everything possible to prepare yourself and your resumes in order to present a fully qualified and deserving applicant. God helps those who help themselves. At this point, you have done everything possible to help yourself, now leave the rest up to God. You will all end up exactly where you are supposed to.

So, when you begin receiving envelopes (big or small) take each bit of news in stride. I encourage each of you to look at any initial disappointment in the form of a 'rejection' or deferral as a guiding light. These decisions are telling you that that school just wasn't right for you and are pointing you in another direction--pointing you towards your intended path. Embrace this guiding light and any other opportunities that come your way in the next few years. Trust that maybe, just maybe, God knows a little more than you do about where you are headed or what may be the best path for you. Have a little faith. Keep smiling. Go strongly and surely in the direction God points you. Good luck to you all where ever you may go.

justwondering... thank you for your kind words of encouragement to all who are waiting right now. Loved what you said, "Trust that maybe, just maybe, God knows a little more than you do.." You are a good person...God bless....

astrife- after reading some of your other posts on other threads, it isn't surprising that you would make a comment that reeks of cynicism, skepticism and mockery...

"Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." Galations 6:7

Yea, I thoroughly enjoy bringing up things that are completely and totally irrelevant as well, just to point out how cynical I am and how incredibly infantile others are in their spiritual beliefs.

We could go into the metaphysical, spiritual, and religious debates over something like that, but seeing as this is a thread about a COLLEGE and not about metaphysics, I'll keep my nose out of other people's business. I suggest you do the same.

Notre Dame is a Catholic school, and most people wanting to attend are Catholic or have some kind of religious beliefs. Given the nature of the school, I don't think talk of spiritual things is inappropriate on this board. I'll say a prayer for those of you still waiting to hear.

you know i've normally been very careful with what I say on these boards. While I think astrife's comment was definitely in poor taste...I don't especially think it appropriate for justwondering to be "prostelytizing" on the boards. That comment is kinda like someone saying "time heals all wounds," or "it's all part of God's plan" at a funeral. Whether it be so or not, its not something that other people necessarily want to hear. Before someone tries to label me as anti-catholic...I'm not. Nor do I scream "separation of church and state" all the time. I just think the original post may have been good intentioned, but comes off rather overbearing.

Nonetheless, I'm hoping that Notre Dame is the path God has chosen for me. :) A few more days, a few more days, and the big picture will be a bit more clear.

To astrife and anyone else I offended with my original comment, I apologize. I did not intend to spark any sort of religious debate. I certainly did not mean for my statement to come off as overbearing or "holier-than-thou." I actually didn't even intend to begin a discussion or elicit any sort of response.

True, this thread was not begun in the spirit of exploring or discovering anything about life or academics about Notre Dame. In reading many of the forums on this site in the last few days, I simply recognized a lot of feelings of anxiety, excitement, and perhaps even inadequacy in a lot of member's posts that I myself have been feeling in the past days and weeks. Perhaps my original post would have seemed less overbearing if I had used "us" in many of the places I used "you."

Also, ND4me, I completely understand what you are saying. As much as I want to trust that I will be guided towards where I am meant to be, I cant help hoping sometimes that things will work out the way I think they are supposed to work out.

My only intention in begining this 'thread' was to offer some words of support and encouragement to anyone who is feeling what I am feeling or who is apprehensive about college decisions. Again, I apologize if i offended anyone or managed to digress from the purpose of this forum.

There is absolutely no need to apologize. If some people were offended or felt that ur post was overbearing, they obviously have some issues in their life that they need to take care of. Anyways, going to Notre Dame would be an awesome experience.

If I get rejected it will be because I was not a good enough applicant not because some "god" ordained it. Lol... won't you be ****ed if I get in with my small mind? I'll be sure and let you know the results...

astrife. i did not intend for this to flare up an argument. your level of intelligence has no relation to the success of your spiritual life or the meaningfulness of your own life. atheists can be geniuses too. but they can still be small minded. SAT scores and class ranks only carry so much weight, friend.

i have to say, i do wonder...

why you are trying to get a predominantly catholic school and a famous liberal arts college if you reject meaning / truth / spirituality, etc...
