Going ~25-50 words over on Brandeis supp but not cut off: OK?

I'm responding to prompt 2, which is meant to be limited to 250 words. I will have about 275-300 when finished. I know it won't cut off because Brandeis has provided ample space (2000 characters, not sure why they've given so many?) and my essay is only ~1,550 at 284 words.
My question is, will Brandeis care if my essay is maybe 25-50 words over the limit? It definitely won't be cut off (already previewed) but I don't know if they'd care. I cut this damn essay down from 400 words and I feel like if I axe any more it will really start to hurt the essay. Thoughts?

Don’t worry about it - it’s fine. Just make sure every word actually counts - if you are rambling and rehashing the same idea, going over the word count is going to hurt you.
