The only major airports are all over an hour away. What is the recommended way to get to Dartmouth from the airport? Taxi? Bus?

Iceberg,
The two most frequently used airports are Boston Logan (BOS) and Manchester Regional (MHT). The Dartmouth Coach runs between Hanover and Boston numerous (like 6 or 7) times a day. Check dartmouthcoach.com for the schedule. It’s a great way to get back and forth from Logan. There is a new service called Upper Valley Ride to the Airport that has scheduled service several times a day between Hanover and the Manchester airport. I believe the web address is UVRidetotheAirport.com and web address is randy@UVRidetotheAirport. Randy Heller is the owner and very helpful. Manchester is an easy in/out airport and closer to Dartmouth, but Logan has it’s advantages as well. Hope this helps.

Fly into logan and take the coach, it runs much more frequently and the Vermont Transit service to/from Manchester has gotten really unreliable. The Dartmouth coach is a much nicer bus and its a much easier process. I really recommend flying into Logan and then taking the Dartmouth Coach.

Do you recommend buying tickets for the Dartmouth Coach in advance? If so, are you allowed to transfer tickets to another time (in case my flight gets delayed)?

You can buy them on the spot (in South Station, where the Coach will stop), or you can buy them in advance. Times will transfer.

We have flown into Bradley Airport (BDL) several times. The airport is between Hartford CT and Springfield MA, leaving a less than three hour drive up I-91 to Hanover. We’ve found this to be about the same length trip as from Boston, without having to drive in Boston.

I always buy them in advance and its never been a problem if I miss the coach I intend to take because of delays. The best part of the coach is how often it runs. But lots of people do just wait to buy them at South Station as well.

I assume one can purchase these tickets at Logan Airport too?

Dartmouth Coach tickets can also be purchased online. Even the new website’s system forces purchasers to indicate when they plan to use each ticket, Boston <-> Hanover tickets can be used on any date/time for up to a year or so.

Tickets cannot be purchased at Logan. The Coach will pick you up at Logan and stop at South Station to let you buy a ticket, if you don’t have one already.
