Going to a college that you were raised to hate

Does anyone have that problem where they want to go to a certain college but their parents and family can not stand, and you have been raised to hate.

For example,
I am a sooners fan to the ^2000.
However, i am considering UT, A&M, and even Bama.

I dont know that my sporting sanity could take it

I’m an Ohio State fan and my entire family is as well, but I am very heavily thinking about Michigan.

Oh, my, kypdurron, you are talking heresy! If one of my kids wanted to go to OU… I can’t even stand to think about it. ;)

We had the reverse problem. DH and I attended the same school and DS is applying this year. When it came time to look at schools he at first refused to look at our alma mater’s rival because he had grown up being exposed to our great (mock) disdain for the school. In reality the schools are similar, which is what made for a wonderful rivalry, and we have many friends who graduated from the other school. I had to insist that DS seriously investigate the rival school if he wanted to put in an application to ours. I held my breath while he investigated the rival school, then secretly did the happy dance when he decided for very good reasons that he preferred our school.
