<p>I am currently a high school senior in the college admissions/selections process. My mother is a professor at a prestigious research university (about 5,000 students) that is about 30 mins from my house, and the school is one I am seriously considering (free tuition being a big bonus). I was wondering if anybody had any experience going to the same college where a parent teaches. I would not be taking classes in her department at all, we would even be in different colleges with in the university (business vs. arts & sciences). Has anybody who has gone through a similar scenario found it odd being at school with a parent? Did people ever connect you to your parent as a professor? Did it have any large social effects?</p>
