Hello,
I was curious if anyone from Emory college or Oxford college could give advice to those who wish to enroll in GBS. Whether it be a certain GPA we should aim for or activities and clubs we should participate in, anything would be helpful. Thank you.
Like above a 3.2 GPA. I think activities are almost meaningless in the admissions process. There are always over 100 people who go to the first meeting of business related clubs and then like a dozen that ever come back. I think those who run the BBA program know this. Most students get into the business school. Just have decent grades, especially in the pre-req courses.
pre-business folks should have 3.5+ overall and at least a 3.2-3.3 pre-bus pre-req GPA (financial accounting, DSci, and Econ I suppose). You get the 3.5+ (mean is apparently 3.6) by working hard in medium/hard classes or you just do like a significant amount (this is me sugarcoating for “most”) of other pre-bus students by taking easy GER courses and inflating/buffering your grades while taking b-school pre-reqs which grade on a curve (and may thus lower the chance of an A grade). Like most professional schools, it is a numbers game. The goal is to just play the game to get in, even if you have to kind of do lackluster non business oriented courses while in ECAS. If you end up on the low end of the GPA spectrum, you can do something cool EC wise that may help, but as baseballfan86 suggests, it should not be the stereotypical activities that pre-BBA students do. Be more creative.
Thank you both so much!
