Top 40%
Big Texas public high school
UW GPA of 3.2
ACT 25 ( only taken it once I think I can at least get a 28 by the time I apply)
(9 on essay)
80 volunteer hours
7 AP classes by graduation
Potential majors: Finance, Supply Chain Management or similar business majors
I'd prefer something under 34k a year for everything

Basically I’m looking for solid business schools I would have a chance at, thanks

TAMU and its instate for you. ASU. University of Minnesota. Michigan State. Ohio State. Baruch College.

I’d start with SMU. Then TCU. Get that ACT up to 28/29 and you’d have a decent shot at those.

SMU especially is known for being strong in Business.

^
SMU and TCU cost more than $34k.

@Machovich Is $34k the budget that your parents have said that they will pay?

I dont think TAMU would accept you.

@mom2collegekids basically yes and we don’t qualify for any type of need aid I believe mainly because I have a lump sum of money in my college account.

I’m not interested in A&M at all, for various reasons.

OP wants good business schools that he could get into. Money wasn’t mentioned.

UT and aTm will be hard to get into.

I guess a third option in Texas would be Baylor. I’m not sure if they are strong in business per se, but it’s a decent school overall.

Option #4 would be Texas Tech.

5 would be UTEP

6 would be UT-Arlington

Also I’m a legacy for SMU and TCU so I may apply there. I would prefer to hear some non Texas schools because I’m already pretty familiar with the schools here
@prezbucky

If you’re looking for a smaller college, you might qualify for a scholarship at Whittier, which would bring the cost of attendance down into your range. A lot of state universities and colleges aren’t much more expensive for non-residents than elite flagship schools like UT or the UCs are for in-state students. Are you an outdoorsman? Then, maybe Boise State, U of WY, or UWVa. Want a more progressive, “hippier” vibe? Look at Evergreen State College (Olympia, WA). Care about big-time sports programs to root for? Maybe Nebraska, Alabama, Ole Miss, or Kentucky - some of these might exceed your $34k, but I’m sure they’re all still pretty affordable for out-of-state. Iowa State has also received a lot of positive buzz for its financial management, and commitment to remaining affordable.

Right now I’m looking at
UT-Austin
UT-Arlington (if CAPed)
University of Houston
UNT
Arizona State
Minnesota
Pittsburgh
SMU

Pitt is going to be more then 34k. Somewhere around 44k for OOS. Its around 31k for instate

I’d look at Arkansas. http://nrta.uark.edu/. Right now 80 percent of the difference between in-state and out of state is paid for, if you raise your ACT by one point then its 90 percent.

If you don’t want to go too far from home, the University of Oklahoma could be a good option. Academic and financial safety for you, assuming you don’t discuss how badly you want to go to Oklahoma State U in your essay.

Other possibilities:
-James Madison University
-Appalachian State University
-University of Tampa
-Duquesne University
-UT Dallas

Yes, Arkansas. 60% of the kids who go to UArk are from Texas. Plus, here is something interesting: Wal-mart was started in Northern Arkansas. Wal-mart has a policy that every vendor or retailer associated with them must have a regional office in Northern Arkansas. Therefore, there are all kinds of internships available to students who go there. If you can get into the school, you can declare business as your major without having to apply to the business school separately the way you would at UT Austin. I would atleast check it out.
