So I got a 33 the second time I took the ACT, 32 the first. I also took three SAT subject tests, but didn't do so hot. I scored a 780 in Math II, 660 in Chem, and 640 in US History. I am in the top 2 and have a 4.8 GPA, but I'm getting nervous as it gets closer to application time. Should I retake chem and history or will it not make a difference? I have many extracurricular activities and participate in varsity athletics. Do I have a chance at getting into Harvard or Yale?

Submitting the ACT means that you don't have to submit SAT subject tests at most schools, so if you're that nervous about it you can check the school's policy and then not send them.

a chance yes.....but no one really has much of a chance. I hope that colleges start accepting more people next year. this year was brutal!!

Its a crapshoot, dude.

yes, you have a chance at Harvard and Yale.

There are other Ivies, you know. Why just Harvard and Yale?

Yes, you should retake Chem and US History. I think admissions committees will take your highest score. It certainly can't hurt.

In which subject do you wish to major?

What were your SAT CR and math scores?

You did well on Math II.

my friend got a 1410 (2100) SAT (took 3 times), with high 600's on all 3 subject tests. he got into harvard this year. he isn't very smart, but he had an interesting story to tell.

^that is a complete anomaly, a statistical blip, and not particularly relevant to anyone's real chances.

A chance, yes. But apply to some matches-safeties too. Just in case.
