Good High School Jobs

I went up to the head of the math department and asked if he had any openings. He said he'd check to see if he had the money, and he found that he did. Got hired yesterday.

I dual enroll at the CC (not instead of highschool, but as a supplement) and I aced this guy's class and he checked out my recommendations from my other math classes at the college and they were good (A's) and I have a few math competition awards that I told him about.

But the lesson is -- don't be afraid to take initiative. There was no "hiring math tutors" sign, I just decided to go for it and it worked out :)

I'm so glad I can start making money, heh.

drug dealing....but don't.

i work at a cafe (which i love dearly) and get tips galore and it's lovely.

free coffee too. beat that *****es.

What banks give internships to high school kids?

silentsailor: I work in a restaurant, and I am only 17. I'm not allowed to take any alcoholic drinks to my tables, I have to ask someone over 18 to do it, which is annoying. I really enjoy it, though. If you are a good waiter/waitress you can make a lot in a day, and the scheduling is often fairly flexible.

The best job you can do if you are a guy is to be a cart boy at a golf course/country club. You can get some good tips if you're extra nice to all those semi-rich to rich men there, especially if the rate to play or the rate for membership is expensive. Actually, anything with tips at places that are expensive to eat at/play golf at/etc. is a high school kid's best bet.

I'm 14, and I'm going to be working part-time at a web design place this summer. Basically I'm going to be testing out their website-editing software, and also filing papers, etc etc.

Ask around local businesses. They're usually better about hiring under 16.

oh, be one of those people on MSNBC who trick pedophiles into coming into their house and getting arrested

well, i just wondering whether we would need a resume to go to work? or does it depend?

I think I have the strangest job for summer. I'm going to work at a funeral home...

i'm 17 and going off to college.. what about places that will hire for only the summer? what do we do.. just walk in somewhere and ask .. are you hiring?

Any tips on writing a resume (specifically the cover letter)?

I'd never in my life do that...I don't see how you can bear it lol...

but yea...I work at Chick-Fil-A...and for most summer jobs you DON'T need a resume...just fill out an application and turn it in DIRECTLY to the front end manager/store manager...introduce yourself and call back to check up on the status of the application

I'd recommend starting at a fast food restaurant or a grocery store...I've done both lol...but you guys have waited kinda late to search for a job...most teens secure a summer job around spring break (atleast in my area)

Go to your local Youth Employement Service. They usually have jobs fair and help you prepare your resume.

someone said if you're interested in art/design to make fliers for places. how exactly would you go about doing that?

babysitting doesnt help at all...anyone can do it and its not a real job honestly...half the time are you actually babysitting or even controlling the kids..no...unles ur doing it at like an afternoon daycare center maybe thats good

I'm a plumbing apprentice. It's kind of funny when I show up at jobs and somebody assumes I'm tagging along with my dad to go to work. They don't realize I'm actually working. Good money, plus we now get specific calls since I'm a chick and they ask for the chick plumber =].

work at an upscale, trendy resturant where successful people in their late 20's to early/mid 30's eat. they're the ones who will consistantly tip you 20%+ on their multi-hundred dollar checks, rather than it being a gamble on if you get anything.

I doubt whether this will affect college admissions, but for extra cash you could try teaching or something. If youre good at an instrument, charge money for lessons. Or coach. Or tutor.

Excuse smcnair. Why are you prejudice against babysitters. They work very hard.

hahahah...nice romanigy--plummers apprentice-- whose ur head plummer, americo ren??
