Good pizza place?

Don’t know how to search old threads.

Remember a discussion not long ago about good pizza places near campus.

Can anyone suggest a place to sit in and have pizza?

Son likes Papa Johns. Not a fan of CiCi’s or Pizza Hut or Domino’s.

Does DePalma’s have pizza and is it good?

Adding to above post, saw Tuts is near campus. Do they have good pizza?

Also, what about Bottom Feeders?

Son is a chicken tenders and fries addict as well, and I noticed that on the menu.

Mom will get the barbecue.

We like DePalma’s but I’ve never had the pizza there. I think my son has.

Cafe Venice used to have really good pizza, but my son thinks that the chef changed and the taste changed.

People like Mellow Mushroom for pizza…It’s in Downtown…

zoom in…click on satellite and “show labels” …

The fries are awesome at Five Guys…best hamburgers, too. lots of toppings. Located in Midtown Village on McFarland Blvd.

A lot of people really like Snappy Tomato Pizza from what I’ve heard. Papa John’s is pretty close to the edge of campus, but I’m pretty sure that they deliver too.

Montegut…

Are you asking about “dine in” pizza or “take out” pizza?

dine in pizza. and need a place with chicken tenders and fries. may hit mugshots, but would rather a place near campus.

depalma’s may be too fancy.

want a place that the kids go to, so son can get a feel of campus life

Good, we only have three of those types of places per square mile in town.

For “dine in”…many kids go to Mellow Mushroom. <a href=“Mellow Mushroom | The Best Stone Baked Pizza | Mellow Mushroom”>Mellow Mushroom | The Best Stone Baked Pizza | Mellow Mushroom;

will you have a car?

Kids go to DePalma’s. It’s on a level of Macaroni Grill or Olive Garden.

Tuts is on The Strip, but my boys didn’t like their pizza. Others may like it.

feenotype, you’re too funny. can you be specific on places for a quick chicken tenders meal before walking the campus? arby’s has become a staple for college visits.

really would like to try mellow mushroom, but didn’t know if the pizza was good or not.

thanks, all, for the recommendations. so sorry couldn’t find the old thread.

^^^Mellow Mushroom has some pretty good pizza. Feenotype is definitely correct about all the places that serve chicken fingers/strips. We also have a lot of places that serve hot wings, which you can often get boneless. I know Buffalo Phil’s has chicken strips, as does Lakeside for the late night meal (once a week, currently Wednesday IIRC). I’d assume that the fried chicken places (KFC, Popeye’s, Church’s, etc.) serve them too. As you probably know, Arby’s is pretty close to campus.

Chicken finger places have become a sort of cottage industry in this part of the South. We have at last count 3 area chains I cant think of off the type of my head where chicken fingers are the focus items: Walton’s, Guthries, and Zaxby’s. Panning out a bit to chicken in general restaurants, we have Popeye’s, Bojangles, Chick-fil-A, Church’s and KFC.

Buffalo Wild Wings (my personal favorite) too

Are there any decent Mexican restaurants? I know there’s a Qdoba, but I’ve never been a big fan.

I know there’s a Mexican restaurant on the strip and possibly another one nearby, but I haven’t ate at either. Instead, Mexican food is one of the first things I eat when I get home.

For Mexican food, we like Iguana Grill in Midtown Mall. We’ve also eaten at the Mexican restaurant on the strip, and that was fine. But, we really like Iguana Grill (it’s in the back area of Midtown Mall - you can’t see it from McFarland Blvd.)

For pizza, I prefer Mellow Mushroom (plus, they deliver now). As for Mexican food, none of the places around campus are that great, but Pepito’s on the Strip is pretty decent.

^^^

Do you not like Iguana Grill (at Midtown Village) or are you not considering it because it’s not “around campus”?

El Rincon II on the strip is real popular with students.

Is that on the south side of University Drive…a bit further down from Publix?
