Good previous internships over gpa?

I am at rising sophmore at William and Mary with a decent GPA (3.5) and a couple business-related ec's (though I am an econ/gov major). While that isn't out of the ordinary, due to some fairly decent personal connections I have had a job interning at a Private Equity firm the past two summers, and know that I could get great recommendations from a bunch of guys in the company. I was wondering if this would be enough to help get me a job at a top i-bank, and what else I would have to do to be competitive with the many ivy-league applicants.

Thanks.

Definitely. You will be a unique candidate. Just keep up what you are doing. That is a fine GPA given other positive aspects of your resume.

depends on the internship. people say "private equity firm," but it can be some worthless firm.
