Good Schools for Muah!

I knew she was a fake from the start

look back on page one and also on one of her other posts

Im sure glad I didnt stay up for 3 extra hrs.

"I will be majoring in psychology and minoring in biology"

If this was real,,,, God help her patients.

hahahaha.........i juz found this thread today (darn i am so late...i wud have loved to give my two cents to tt angel)...but still.....i actually pity such ppl....maybe they seriosuly think they are rite?? god help them!! i hope she realises soem day the truth....poor kid...

so sorry if u guys have made up wof her and worng of me to put her down now, but i cud not read all the 20 pages :(........my comments are based on the first few pages...
sincerel apology if i am terribly wrong...

My d is required to cheer at girls' and boys' basketball games as well as girls' volleyball games and boys' football games. By-product of the Title IX thing. And Cheerleaders in our district are not permitted to participate in any sport that conflicts with their cheerleading responsibilities. It does seem as though HotIvy would have difficulty being in two places at once. She needs to take care...blatant embellishment of her stats will get her college apps thrown in the trash.

okay......so i finished reaiding al the pagesl.... tot things might get better but where is the OP anywyaz?? sigh...... thank god all asians (includin moi) not like dat!! hope things work out...
a FAR FETCHED thought: is it poss she was fakin all this as in to see people's true rxn... but then again i doubt cos she ended up sayin really negative stuff...no one would take a bluff That Far unless their screws up thieir are loose....
and calidan , u rock!! and u are mature too....i wud have lost my cool way earlier and god noes done wat!! really, ivies shoudl be rollin red carpet for a sophistaced and valuable person like u :).........but where ever u went, tt school will definitely benefit from ya!!

oh no.....will she think i am really stupid cos of all the typos i have made in the past two threads?? :(

Ivy League Wannabe, you need to chill out! Listen, the last I heard, no school was looking forward to accepting people that no one would like. The Socially Challenged & Arrogant seem to not be at the top of anyone’s list. Make sure that your essays didn’t convey your true self, because if they did, you had better apply to a STATE school yourself. Try some place that rewards close mindedness and egomania. You’ll fit right in. But no worries, even if you do get in, freshman year is going to be a huge reality check. Good luck. :-)
P.S. What is Muah? Did you mean Moi? Just curious….

Thanks everyone for 15 minutes of quality entertainment reading this thread!

The OP broke at least 3-4 of my Top 10 things not to say on CC

lol. was one of them "I hope you get cancer"?

that and "Brown is just a mediocre institution," "Who's Who is one of the most prestigious awards ever," and "I'm applying to al of the Ivies because of prestige, with Cornell as my safety."

yes those were all priceless but my personal favorite was when she told Ashveer to go research cancer, b/c he'd need it

Oh God, that was terrible. I swear I just stared at the screen in disbelief for like 5 minutes.

I know you probably disagree with me, I just hope that in the future, you may do so in a little more respectable manner.

hotivy to tore.

This was a neat gem of hypocrisy...

Sorry- double post

mea- LOL I remember that. Hilarious.

(general note- let's not start this thread of again. I think most everything worth saying has been said. :o)

MUST.........NOT..........TYPE...........

oh what they heck, I'm weak. My favorite was when she kept apologizing after every insinsitive and arrogant thing she said, and when she said she planned on using Who' Who as her "hook"..............priceless;)

classic...i love how her rank is 1st out of 432 people in her class when (really) her entire school has only 246 students; she goes to a school for the arts (the most popular college is juliard) but she plans on majoring in psychology/biology; and the cheerleading thing: she can cheer while playing basketball...at the same time...she truly is "amazing"

What I noticed was the acceptences at Colleges and Universities...I shouldn't be picky, but after her mean little words....why not?

dang, i didnt read all of this, but be nice. hehe. it is funny though. oh, wow, this is a really long thread.

OK, I have heard enough. Jeesh. I am going to pretend that HotIvyWannaBe is a joke identity who is being this totally obnoxious just to kill time and entertain him or herself. You have an out! Surely no one with your test scores is this witless and misinformed and blundering about insulting others interested in wonderful institutions like Rice and Georgetown. OK, I guess it is possible. If you are a real student who would like to get advice and offer support to others on CC as you approach the season of your life where you define where you will live until you are 22, I suggest you come back with a new screen-name and a new attitude. Lurk a while, read a while. Reevaluate. Get some of the top five college application advice books and get some perspective. Harvard Schmarvard for instance. I can applaud you work to get in an Ivy but not the distorted misinformation about non-Ivys that are producing great people every day.

If this is not a joke identity, then I suggest you get some serious feedback from someone you know who is experienced in top 25 college admissions about grandiosity and rudeness before you ruin/eliminate your chances at a great college by coming across as totally arrogant and short-sighted in an interview. This is what alumni interviews are for...to eliminate misinformed and offensive people who have other credentials. One good thing about Ivy admissions is that many schools truly do pick great people with less to offer in test scores because intelligence is understood to be multifaceted. PUHLEASE. Social skills and social astuteness count a lot in admissions and in real life. The reason there are books out there on Emotional Intelligence is that presenting yourself in a balanced way is a kind of intelligence and necessary to be effective and productive. Also. No one puts Whos Who on their applications because it is a book sale racket that does offer a few scholarships, and it shows a lack of insight to think otherwise.

I'm surprised that no one has bothered to prove her wrong on the "Who's who" issue, so I've taken the liberty of researching it for her and everyone else. The better business bureau, a non-profit organization, has listed it as a scam:

"'You have been selected for a Who's Who Among High School Students directory.' This is referred to as a "vanity publication", which may or may not ever be distributed. You fill out a form, get selected, and pay a steep fee to see or receive a copy of this book. With print technology so advanced, anyone can be in a "Who's Who" book of some category."

Similarly, other forums(which, incidentally, arenot solely focused on college admissions) have discussed the topic and come to a consensus that it is meaningless and a waste of time. See <a href="http://www.wholenote.com/fretbuzz/fbmsg.asp?i=269248&n=Miscellaneous&t=9&th=267632%5B/url%5D">http://www.wholenote.com/fretbuzz/fbmsg.asp?i=269248&n=Miscellaneous&t=9&th=267632</a>
and

Finally, an admissions expert from admissionsboards.com has this to say:
"I believe the Who's Who Among High School Students serves the purpose of publishing one's name and face in a national "yeabook" with the opportunity to apply for scholarships available through the publishing organization. From the perspective of an Admissions Representative, I do not know of anyone who has used the publication as a reference when considering a pool of prospective applicants applying to college in a given year. I have seen student resumes listing Who's Who as an achievement. Simply listing awards in academic performance, community service, sports participation, and project leadership, provides a clearer picture of one's merits."

As you can see, "Who's Who Among American High School Students" is indeed a moneymaking scheme that provides nearly no prestige, especially in the eyes of elite college admissions committees.
