I live in NY, and I'm interested in pharmacy and computer science.

Is there any college that has great programs in both areas?

If there isn't, is there any with good program in just one of those areas?

Northeastern

Great in both and great overall.

Try Rugters.

Just a horrible place. I would not send anyone there unless they were broke and a NJ resident. I say this as a proud son of NJ.

Do you think Northeastern is a better school than Rutgers?

University of Buffalo

But Boston>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>NB

Hm.. Why Rutgers is that bad? How about michigan? Does it have nice pharmacy program?

Anyway, I can't decide wihch area should I consider more.

Which major would be better for the future? (for career, earning, etc...)

Michigan has a great pharm program and is a great school in a great place to go to school.
Rutgers has a nasty campus in a nasty city ; it also has a poor self-image and poor social life.
Here's a link to some rankings

http://www.uspharmd.com/rxschoolranking.htm

Thx for the link lovejoy. That link was really helpful. ;)

Yeah, I'm thinking about applying the pharmacy college in Michigan as early as possible.

If I apply there, do I have to apply to College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) or College of Pharmacy? In my opinion, since the application says "For College of Pharmacy, Applicants must have junior standing," I have to apply to LSA and then transfer to Pharm.

I'm just not sure about it.

yes, you apply to lsa first, and then junior year you apply to the pharm school,

Pharmacy is now usually a 6 year program so you probably need two years of pre-pharm classes to be judged. I am sure UM has a good webpage on it.

Alright. Thx a lot celebrian25. :D

I've just started this Application process, and I hope I'm not that late for the admission. ;)

One nice thing is they admit 20 freshmen into the guaranteed admission program.

What? So, then the 20 freshmen will be accepted no matter what happens later?

Of course they have to maintain a certain gpa--3.000 but they are in if they do.

The pharmacy rankings posted above are from 1996 (nearly ten years old). This was before Northeastern spent half a billion dollars upgrading its programs and facilities. The school just opened a new health sciences building ($40 million facility) and a new Computer Science building ($110 million facility). Northeastern is currently adding 100 new tenure and tenure track professors at a rate of 25-30 per year. Another thing to consider is that Northeastern has the top internship program in the world. Look for NEU to move up in the Pharmacy and CS rankings.

If you look in that site, there is also rankings in year 2002.

Anyway, that's a good news. I'll definitely check out NEU. Thx.

University of Washington is ranked top 13 Pharmacy and has a top 10 Computer Science program for undergrads.
