anyone know of any that are relatively cheap (preferably free)? What I really want to do is get Calc done with so I don't have to take it my senior year ( figure a few weeks of that drudgery is better than a year). but I woudl really like some science courses. Anything would be fine as long as it is fun and interesting to me. anyone know of any?

if what you want is to take calc, you should be checking out college's summer schools. If what you want is a summer program for high school students, here is a link to a national list (few if any of these will offer a calc course). There are at least 2 in Texas. I don't know much about the one in Dallas, but I know someone who went to the one in San Marcos and had a good experience. It's subsidized, so the price is reasonable.

how much is reaonable?

the big thing is I want to take Calc as a credit. how would I get into a college's summer school?

but I also would really ike a good science program. I'm leaning toward research oriented because I don't konw how to do it :-P

i had a friend who went there and loved it. i think most programs will offer financial aid if needed.

ssshafter has given you the link to the program I was talking about in San Marcos. Lot's of Texas kids who are involved in various math competitions go there, and I've heard good things.

If you want to take calculus in summer school, just go to the website of a campus you would be interested in and search "summer school". You do not normally have to be admitted to a college to attend their summer school.

If you would be interested in doing calculus as a self study (but for credit), check out:

General comment - calc is something you can take almost anywhere, including many high schools and all community colleges. It's kind of a waste of a good summer program to try to do calculus. It would be better imo to go for a program that would introduce you to aspects of math and science that would not normally be available to you.

................... a 90 on a calculus test. wow that sounds hard.

thanx for the tip texas137

BTW, do u kinow of any good math competitions in texas ( good as in involving heavy critcal thinking, spatial reasoning, etc). UIL doesn't count)

elementary number theory sounds awesome. I've been trying to found out some of the reasons for patterns I see in numbers by myself but to be taught it... that'd be kewl

lol my family is not lacking finaincially but I want a really cheap summer program. like acouple of hundred dollars tops. Math/ Science would be nifty

Any suggestions for self study on Calc?
