I know I have seen posts before on certain watches to get for Plebe Summer, but now the time has come. I need one! Anyone have any suggestions on some pretty cool, but good standing watches. I know G Shocks and the Timex Iron Mans, but what should I look for??? Thanks,

Get a basic G-Shock that can be read at night and which has an alarm. A stopwatch is nice if you're one of those (like me) who had to sweat every run.

Otherwise, KISS, and don't sweat it too much because they may not even allow you to wear it during Plebe Summer. I seem to remember not wearing one since the upperclassmen made sure we got to where we needed to go, and on time.

Doesnt matter, plebes dont rate watches during plebe summer. Not only that but they cover the clocks so you dont know what time it is either. Everything you do you rely on the cadre for

navy07, so SHOULD we send her with a watch OR mail it to her sometime during Plebe summer? This is the first I've heard they don't even get to have watches this summer. Thanks for input.

Let her take it on I day, most companies do not let them have them until at least second set. They can have watches but keep them in their locker and are not allowed to wear them under most circumstances. As plebe summer goes on they are slowly augmented into getting ready for Ac year and getting watches back is one of those things.

The watch (time) policy is also company dependant; so not every company disallows watches. At the worst, the watches will be taken away and returned at a future date.

Once Plebes are allowed to wear watches, usually after PPW, you can buy some nice ones in the Mid Store. There is a Navy SEAL watch available in the store that is very durable and has many nice features. My Mid bought one after Plebe Summer.

Well, chow calls for us didn't start until like a week or two before reform. Our clocks were never covered...I am sure other companies had to uncover them (logical sense).

The detailers just tell them what chow call to do and when to go everywhere. my year they actually changed the time on the clocks so we had no idea what time it was. just went from meal to meal.

Navy07 is right, the clocks in our company area were covered, the clocks in king hall read the wrong time, and they took our own personal watches and clocks. We got our watches back the first week of second set to emphasize regaining some "responsibility." As for chow calls, the cadre just have you fall out in the hallway and say "ok, 20 minute chow call, go." You don't have to do individual chow calls until a couple weeks into the academic year, but a lot of company's end up on "all-calls" for the majority of the academic year too.
