Are you planning to apply? I am, but only because it fits my interests. If it was something about finance, I doubt i would be as eager…

I doubt I will apply for it, but I guess I have 5 days to change my mind.

Just out of curiosity, what did you guys do for your essay? I decided to turn my essay into a website, but apparently that was not a good idea. Here’s the site: http://begooglebold.com/

I think it was an extremely creative idea, but I believe the point of the essay was to be concise with your writing. However, in my opinion, it would really stand out. IDK, I guess we all will never know…

@ergamnes,

Someone on there got an email for an interview on March 29th. A couple of other people were waiting for their first phone interview the last week of March. Another got their email on April 1st for their first phone interview. Someone got an offer on April 13th. Somebody else got rejected on April 20th. They said that Google was pretty overwhelmed with applications and was going to give an update on May 1st. I imagine the number of applications increases each year too.

I also got the email that I will not be moving on and to apply for adcamp…

Hey for everyone that just got denial letters…when did you apply? I’m trying to get an idea where they are at with looking at apps, but I have heard about people that have applied the last day that have heard back
Good luck to everyone!

Sorry for the spam, I posted those over a week ago, not sure what happened. I got my rejection a few days ago, as well as the offer to apply to adcamp. I think its just a generic email they send to everyone. They say in the email that if you have any questions you can email them, I wonder if they would give feedback on why we got rejected. It would be great if they would.

@Brebre1 I applied mid November I think.

I applied in mid October so I’m pretty sure the messages aren’t chronological…

I really wanted to comment on the process of interviewing for the BOLD internship position, this is my second time interviewing and I am currently waiting to hear back from an interview, very nervous! What I would tell others:

I think there is a huge elephant in the room because the BOLD program does require you to be diverse, but during the interview they DO NOT want to hear about how you are diverse. Google just wants to know you can do the job. And I would suggest trying to articulate you can do the job and have specific examples and instances in your schoolwork that answer the questions they ask and reflect Google’s cultural values. I would not suggest bringing up why you are diverse in the interview, I tried doing this in one of my interviews last year with Google and I felt like it did not go over extremely well because it felt so tangential. I would only articulate your diversity in the BOLD internship program’s application.

While technical questions are important, understanding how to answer behavioral interview questions briefly thoroughly and with a strong emphasis on personal contribution in team environments is critical, if that reflects Google’s core values that is golden, this can (and should because it is Google) be practiced with almost anyone, my interview questions were almost all behavioral even though I felt like my position was specialized

There are a lot of resources for you once told about your selection for an interview, it is suggested to look at previous BOLD intern blogs and BOLD intern hangout information, while these serve a purpose, I would definitely suggest looking over your resume and how it reflects Google’s 10 things and as stated above practice, in the short time you have, behavioral interview questions, being able to talk about what you are passionate about, and general “tell me about yourself” questions

Google folks will not give you feedback on your interview

Hope this helps!

Has anyone heard anything lately? Submitted a competing offer form on Monday but they’ve been radio silent…

Eh…got a no . Good luck to everyone though! I finally understand what people mean when they say “you learn from the entire process”. I agree. I have learned a lot. Personally, I do not know if anything corporate is the way I want to go. I hope everyone finds what they are looking for! Thanks for all your help!

I haven’t heard anything since receiving a follow up e-mail about my application being in process. :

@rspirit12 Sorry to hear, but I’m glad you were able to take something away from the process! Would you be able to say which department you applied for and when? I’m starting to get antsy from not hearing anything.

Did any of you get invited to Google Midsummer Night Mixer in July? Not sure if they’re mass inviting all BOLD applicants?
