So today I got a call from Florida State University after applying as a transfer student a week ago. They received my transcript from my CC and called me, is that unusual of them or usually they do that with all transfer students?

I have to say the woman I spoke with was very friendly, helpful, and she made me feel like I'll be in good hands. I'm so excited that I decided not to apply at the other universities I've considered, UF and UCF.

I was told that there were no reasons that I wouldn't be admitted for the spring semester in 2012. I have a high GPA have taken all the prerequisites for my major [Psychology] and I just have to finish this fall semester at my CC.

One problem though is that I will not be admitted until the middle of December 2011. My concern is obviously until I'm admitted I cannot apply for on-campus housing. We did talk about this on the phone when she told me this, however I feel like I'm going to be left with the left overs and possibly won't get an on-campus housing available.

What are you suggestions? What should I do? Should I look for an off campus housing?

I'd really like to stay on campus, I'll obviously be a Junior when I transfer there, so hopefully I'll be placed in the Junior housing facilities, and won't be mixed up with the freshmen and sophomores? Not that I have anything against freshmen, or sophomores...

Should I rely on her words? "there's no reason as to why you won't be admitted"? Or should I also apply at UF and UCF?

:/ Sorta looking for advice of any-sort from anyone.

I don’t suggest that you look feverishly at off-campus housing YET. I do recommend that you keep it in mind that you may not get any on-campus housing, and that you may be left having to scramble, so do some research and start looking, maybe start calling around to places you might be interested in to see if they have any places that have leases ending in December/might be open for the Spring.

My best guess though is that if you get on-campus housing, it’s most likely going to be in Rogers Hall. You will pretty much be left with whatever is available- as someone who is entering in the 2nd semester- when the only way spots open up is if people successfully petition the school to get out of housing contracts or they graduate/flunk out (not including Rogers Hall, which is month-to-month and different than other on-campus housing)- you really are limited in what is available. You might get lucky and get a really good selection. You might get a really bad pick. You might not get on-campus at all.

If you can afford to do so, I would apply to other colleges. There’s really no harm in doing so (aside from application fees), and on the off-chance that FSU denies you, at least you have a back-up.

oh seems like I’ll be in for some scrambling at the end of the year then. I think I’ll go ahead and also apply at UF, and UCF indeed there’s no harm to that.

The only reason why I want to be on-campus is that I won’t have a car or my own transportation to get to the campus. And I really don’t want to ride a bike, just cause in the hot weathers…well you know… sweaty and stuff.

hmm, I’ll have to do some research on off-campus housing.
