Got a letter from the University of California today

"Dear Applicant,

We are pleased that you have chosen to apply to the University of California…"

The letter then proceeds to tell me what to expect about the application process and how to check my admission application. Underneath, it reads,

"Campuses applied to:
Merced

This acknowledgement is in response to an added campus choice. Your application has been sent to the campus(es) named above."

Here’s the thing, I never applied to Merced and I already have decided to go to UCSB. Does this letter mean anything? And why am I getting it mid-May? I’m confused because it has my name, school, social security, and everything else completely correct.

Your best bet is to call in and get it cleared, assuming you sent in your SIR to UCSB. I wish you the best, and hopefully I’ll see you at UCSB during Fall 09’!

Merced is just trying to lure you away. (I’m guessing you checked the box that said UC could send your app to other campuses.)

bobcats got nothing on gauchoss
