Got accepted...what next?

i got into USF as a freshmen this coming fall. i got the acceptance letter yesterday and it had number of steps i need to do to secure my place.

i already have set up my NetID and OASIS account. What next hould i do?
i am confused.

If you haven’t already, get your FAFSA app submitted pronto. If you have submitted it, keep it updated. [Home - FAFSA on the Web-Federal Student Aid](http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/#)

Oops! Forgot to welcome you to USF ad238gh. Congratulations on your admission to USF. Go BULLS!

Thank you.
I have already filled up my FAFSA.
The thing I wanted to know was what next steps should i take for the admission in USF?
like paying the admission fee, the housing, the meal plan??

Sorry to hijack your thread OP but I got a question I want to ask here.
When will the financial aid information be released for students who got accepted for summer A?
I already filed my FAFSA for 2011-2012.

it might be soon since you are starting in the summer. you should check your oasis and see if there are any holds in your financial status.

First the admission fee (which will go toward your tuition the first semester you’re here), then housing, then meal plan, in that order. Textbooks (if you order from the bookstore, which I recommend you don’t unless you really have to) are last.

oh thanx…

and ya i will keep that in mind…i think virtual or e-books are better than buying those heavy ones!!!

Not what I meant, but probably.

i know what you mean… i too think its is not necessary to buy them…i guess notes will do…plus they are really expensive right?

You need to get textbooks. I buy used textbooks from fellow students, online, craigslist, campus and off campus bookstores, I rent some books, sometimes I buy new books, I borrow books from others, sometimes friends just give me their old books, I trade with other students; scrounge around and get the books you need for classes. If you are really disciplined, most textbooks can be read in library. Ask professor when classes start which texbooks on reading list do you really have to have and will older (cheaper) editions suffice. Don’t shoot yourself in foot not getting books if they are really necessary to do well in course.

I meant buy directly from students or online. The bookstore is incredibly overpriced.

i got accepted too, um i was just going through the majors, i think on my application i chose biology, can i change it to pre-med?

Pre-med isn’t a major, it’s a track that makes you eligible to take classes to prepare you for medical school. You will need to pick an actual major (biology is a good choice).

As for the technical part of that question, you can go to the college of arts and sciences and speak to an advisor to see what steps you need to take to declare your pre-med track.

hey anthony01 i chose the same major too…i too am planning to do pre-med and get into the honors college of usf this fall…

i think you can go on studying pre-med but when it comes to the time you want to get into medical school, after two years that is, than you have to qualify for it. than you can continue with your medical program.

Apply for scholarships and housing, and if you want the 7 year med go for it. You save a load of money and get your degree for a great career

I will thanx. yes, i am trying for the 7 yr med program. but first i need to get into honors college. i am retaking my standardized tests so that i can pull up my scores. hoping for the best!!!

I’m waiting to get accepted… And I’m so un-patient, it says in my Oasis Account that the decision has been made and rendered, that i’ll get it in the mail… Its been three days since it says that. They sent me an email yesterday saying that My immunization status has been accepted, so Im eligible to live on school campus of Fall 2011. So that gives me a little hope! (crosses my fingers)

@ Ladyy I heard that when you get that your decision has been rendered it means you’re rejected  .Someone on here said that they called and said that’s their polite way of saying no, and someone said that’s their way of surprising the applicant… so when my friend with good stats (for USF) got that her decision had been rendered, I figured it truly is their way or surprising the applicant. Then today she got her decision and she was denied … so maybe it is their polite way of saying no. But it could not always be. Anyways, she went up to USF after getting her decision and they said they had a mess up in her transcripts and for her to appeal and all that and that she should get accepted . So there’s always hope I guess if you are denied.

I was also denied and successfully appealed. I would start drafting an appeal letter up as soon as possible to give you more time to prepare it, you only get a 30 day window.
