Got an F, Possibly rescinded?

I'm a Biology major and I got an F in my Chem 201 class which is a major pre-req for me.
I was accepted into UCSD and I will have over 60 units but do you think they will rescind me over an F?

The past few months I have been struggling with depression and sickness, and I missed my final exam due to sickness and the teacher refused to let me take it.

Is there anything at all that I can do right now?

Yes, they probably will. Failing a class is the most common reason for being rescinded. The UCs aren’t joking when they tell you to pass all your classes. Call them and explain why. It’s all you can do.

You’ve just entered–the twilight zone!

But I only failed because I missed a final due to sickness

^The UCs don’t really care why, they only care that you failed.

I will have a good enough gpa and enough units

Call the school, tell them you had a medical problem.

I will still be over what they require of me it’s just I got an F

Do they usually cut slack for people who have failed a course? Will they let me stay if my units and gpa still cuts it?

best thing to do is call them. UCs are really strict about their conditions for admission. all you can do is explain why and provide doctors notes if they ask for it. hope it works out for you let us know what they say

also do classes taken at the UCSD extension transfer over to UCSD?

@argeesto: on the UCSD contract there is a part says:

You should contact them immediately, and tell them what you just told us. They do take consideration if your failing grade was due to illness, but be ready to provide proves for that. Do you have any medical records? Send them a copy when you contact them.
If you plan to retake the course during summer, let them know as well. Yes, UCSD extension courses do transfer over to UCSD.
If you wait or do not contact them, they will rescind you base on the contract.
Best luck to you, and hope you get well soon.

I got in with university link program, it doesn’t have that requirement if I’m not mistaken.

@argeesto

Of course it does. University Link or not, at a bare minimum you must pass all of your classes. Like I said, by some miracle they might a special exception in your specific case, but that’s pretty unlikely.

lol, you talk like it shouldn’t matter that you got an F. they want you to finish your last semester with Cs or better or your admission will most likely be rescinded.

You’re not listening to anyone here man. Getting an F after being accepted is a big deal. Like moon9kittie pasted, if you don’t stick to the contract, your admission can, and probably will be rescinded. Like everyone else has been saying, your best bet is to call them and they’ll tell you what to do, if anything could be done.

I only failed because I was really ill and I missed my finals and the teacher isn’t letting me make it up. All of my other classes are A’s. I feel horrible.

Argeesto- Everybody has already told you what you need to do and what could potentially happen. Sitting here on CCC trying to justify to us why you failed is NOT going to help you at all. Call the UC and explain your situation and hope for the best. Thats really all you can do.

Ok thank you guys for the help

I called and they said I would be fine so long as my gpa and units where in order.
