Got My Housing Assignment...

I'm a transfer... I'll be living on South Campus... Skyhall 1....

Any other transfers got their room assignments?

ehhh. Skyhall 1 is so so. The annoying part is having to adjust to taking the bus to main campus for class etc.

I have a car… and friends on south campus with cars so it won’t be a problem…

I already know all about the dorms… Just wanted to know if others found out where they will be housed…

Thanks

you’ll be living with the suny-esf kids…they moved them from sadler to the skyhalls this year.

Ohh… there are a bunch of other transfers in my building but some are on different floors… So maybe thats where the transfer LC is?

How is Boland Hall? I am living in the Arts Adventure LC! (and very excited) Any info on the negatives/positives of living here will be much appreciated!

I lived in Brewster…pretty much the same thing…
PROS
very close environment there… I loved it!

they opened a new gym in addition the the old one (actually its more for people into weightlifting)spring semester

great food in Brockway

occasionally they have little get togethers in strawberry fields(its the lounge)

Burger King

CONS
3 fire alarms in one week (2 were at 5 am)

its VERY FAR from campus

you dont want to go to the library because its FAR AWAY

Law Stairs (hah! i never went up those stairs i went in irving garage which has an elevator which takes you right in front of grant (bridge that connects it i called it the “wonder bridge”)

the inevitable hill to get to campus

its REALLLY windy walking back from campus down that hill in the winter

thats all i can really think of for now.

My friend who is a junior now used to live there… She told me if I had to live on North Campus that was the place to be… I wanted to live in Haven =/

all of the dorms have their pros and cons…
cdiamond, all SUNY ESF freshmen and SU transfers opting for SU housing are living in the Sky Halls…South is pretty cool, though–the Inn Complete, Tennity for ice skating, Goldstein… Also they’re adding in more buses for next year because of the ridiculous new apartments, so you should be fine, especially with a car. There’s a grocery and a liquor store super close to south, and a gas station down the street from those.

as for BBB–the walk isn’t that bad and compensates for the freshman 15 gained from brockway’s surprisingly edible food…
sadler/lawrinson–super close to the dome, so it’s great for games, but bad for trying to catch a bus.
flint/day–has a staircase, oh darn, but has a great view and is a haven to most around finals…plus it means you’ll be living with lots of freshmen going through the same thing.
the central campus dorms are conveniently located to everything, but it means they’re near everything…also they’re filled more with upperclassmen who sorry, but won’t care about making friends with you, in general…they’re living with their already established groups.

hey cdiamond, i guess ill see u there lol. im also going to be living on skyhall 1 with the rest of the transfers!

They put all the transfers together this year. People complain about living on South, but think of it this way: you have a bus to drop you off on campus when it’s cold and icy, you get the feeling that you’re actually going home at the end of the day, so you’re not trapped on campus, and you get to meet a lot of people in the same situation.

But also keep in mind that the bus stops running at 3-3:00 am. It may seem pretty late in the night but at SU, there’s so much that goes on including partying that you may find yourself going home really late. And I believe students in skyhall receive a better meal plan to compensate. It may be different for transfers. Correct me if I’m wrong threekids’kid.

3:30 you mean? the bus stops running @ 3:30. im loving in the skytop apartments on south… i dont mind at all. i have a kitchen!

Sorry. Yes, I meant 3:30. And yes, the new apartments are really fancy. Pretty sure you’ll enjoy it.

Skyhalls and Skytop apts are different. I am going to miss my Skytop apt desperately this year. Skyhalls are dorms.

Yes, the mealplan is different because you don’t have a traditional dining hall. You use meals for stuff when other people use SUpercardFood.
