According to the Cornell Housing website, "Transfer students who met the July 1 housing application deadline will receive your housing assignments by email on Thursday, July 9"! That's today! Has anyone found out yet?

I will be checking my mail first thing. Crossing fingers for west…

I was assigned a double in William Keaton House. Is that a good building?

It’s one of the newest West Campus buildings. I think it was the 4th house to be built and opened last fall.

Crap…I got a suite with 4 other people! ■■■!!! That’s too many people.

I got Kay Hall in a single (I wanted a single) on North Campus, with freshmen. I called them and they said that my age made me eligible to be placed on North Campus. Back at BC, I was 1 of 100 who couldn’t vote in the elections haha…I’m not sure how to take this, I’m close to the Arts and Ag Quad but I’m not with other transfers. I’m also probably one of the youngest transfer students so I understand why they put me there to an extent. Some transfers were placed on North Campus in the lounges and others were asked to get apartments for the semester so I guess I’m not in THAT bad of a position…any input would be appreciated.

Maybe I’m just a discriminating ■■■■■■■, but it angers me that non-transfer continuing students get shafted by the Housing Lottery and TONS got placed into gothics, collegetown, and program houses, while transfers are given singles and doubles in the newest West campus houses?

To be honest, a lot of transfers got shafted as well. Only a few got placed in West, and the majority ended up in Schuyler and other places. Housing just sucks in general…

But yeah. I got placed the Ecohouse.

I will be staying in a double, within a suite. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is it too chaotic having 5 people living in the same area? I’m thinking I might request a room change once I get there. How many showers does a suite have?

Well, I think it’s unfair that the transfer community lost its main home (the Transfer Center) in order to make way for the new West Campus housing system. Just like last year, a significant number of transfers will be housed on North Campus and in the temporary new transfer center in Schuyler House (a good 15-20 minute walk from Central Campus).

Hey guys, do you know anything about the Schyuler house? Was it the transfer dorm last year as well?

No…I think Schuyler House is new for this year.

oh snap! no wonder i heard a kid say he lived in schuyler…yeah the street it’s on is particularly sloped…

it’s closer to downtown ithaca than it is to cornell.

dewdrop do you know how many transfers there are to cornell? i think they should have 1 housing building.

For Fall 2008, Cornell had 616 transfer students matriculate. It would be awesome for them to have another Transfer Center…but when myself and other transfers met with the director of housing we were told that, “There are no new plans to have another Transfer Center and that transfers are lucky that they even have beds reserved for them.”

I got Flora Rose!

It says A B C D1 D2 (I’m in D2). I’m assuming that’s a suite with four rooms, and I’m in the one and only double?

Yup, I’m in the same boat as you goddessx, I’m D2 in my Keeton suite.

Im in the William Keeton House in a double, but I do not have a roommate assign to me. What does that mean? And how are the doubles in William Keeton House? :D… I guess I will be able to see some of you in my dorm building!

whoa nvm! i just found out who my roommate is, Joe what floor are you on?

Joetheplumber, are you seriously complaining about being in a suite in keeton? That is about the best case scenario for on campus housing (a single would be much better though). You will have to share a single (but very nice…1 large shower, 1 toilet, 2 sinks) bathroom with your 4 suitemates which is not bad at all, plus you also get a common area and suites are much more private. I had a single on the hall in becker last year and my hallway was almost all guys so I had to share with 7 other guys while only 2 girls on my end of the hall used the girls bathroom. Trust me, being a in a suite is better than being on the hall.

So does that mean that the people in your hall dont usually visit suite rooms? Or is the suite rooms more socially active?
