Housing assignments on Myslice

sooooo, my D is overseas and I just happened to check her my slice-housing overview and low and behold, assignment is posted.....never got the e-mail though....

How is Lawrinson????

Hi! i'm a incoming freshman, so i don't know how Lawrinson is, but I'm rooming there too! The e-mails were sent out today, so i wouldn't worry, and they were sent to the syracuse e-mail accounts, so make sure you checked that one. I hope your daughter likes it there, granted I hope I do too... Her roomate should be listed on that webpage you were on though, unless she's like me and got stuck in a single, which i'm not entirely happy about... and her room number.
Anyways I hope its a good residence hall!

Lived there last year.

Congratulations on being assigned to the tallest building on campus! It's not bad. There's a bookstore in the building, which is convenient. Your dining hall is in the building over, Sadler. There's an underground tunnel if you want to use it during cold weather. Sadler wasn't my favorite dining hall, I am sorry to say. Brockway is good, which isn't too far away. Lawrinson is kind of far from classes, but not TERRIBLE. Beware, however, of the wind
tunnels created by the Carrier Dome; it's a pain during the winter.

Personally, I loved Lawrinson... but I think it was because of the people. Also, they started renovating Lawrinson, this summer. I BELIEVE they only did upper floors, but I'm definitely coming by to check it out.

Unfortunately, Lawrinson isn't the most social of dorms because of the way the rooms are layed out. My entire floor was really social, but for a while, we never spoke to the guys on the other side of the building. The people make the experience.

Also, floors are coed by floor (girls floors and guys floors alternating).

My son just found out he will be in Brewster. Any thoughts?

My son just found out he is in Sadler - Any info on this dorm???

More info guys: Lawrinson is supposed to be renovated after this school year....there is apparently an elevator issue that causes people to leave for certain morning classes very early to avoid the rush....here you can read:

Lawrinson to undergo renovations - News

Momofcde: Brewster has apparently been renovated already; from accepted student day, we remember it being very nice....also, BBB rumored to have the best dining hall at Brockway, but all the dining halls apparently have the same food....

froshmom: Sadler is right next to Lawrinson....

rodney - thanks for the info!

ill be in brewster. what can you tell me about that?

Flint hall...woo woo

yea flint 165

Sadler 3rd floor here - large split double...

How is Dellplain????????????????

Haven Hall :) Good/bad?

I was sadler 2 freshman year. I liked it. The dining hall is just fine, and it's nice having the lawrinson store next door, I thought sadler was pretty social. If there's anything I miss about being on North (ok this is actually the ONLY thing I miss about living on North) it's that you can just walk outside your room and see people. Dining halls are good for that.
I love the idea of a split double for freshman. You get the roommate experience but keep your privacy. If I had to change clothes in front of someone every day, I don't think I'd make it. I didn't think Sadler was too far from campus, either.

Oh and it's great having a snack bar at Sadler bc sometimes the dining halls close too early, and freshman girls usually have a hard time using up their SUpercardFOOD.
Kimmel is on the other side of campus, it's open til 3am or something, and the notorious post-party snack place.

Brewster: really nice. I think the rooms are a TINY bit smaller, but everything is nice and new; I was a little jealous of my BBB friends, last year.

Haven: nicknamed "the toilet bowl" for its shape. It's in a really convenient location (pretty close to the academic buildings). It's right next to Kimmel, too. Haven's dining hall is decent.

Dellplain: good location, too. It's near Haven; that's going to be your closest dining hall... or Shaw's close, too. For supercard food there is Kimmel across the street.

Haven dining hall sucks! All I can tell you is if you see red in your chicken wings, don't be surprised. The dorm rooms are alright but their elevators are not the best although its three of them but I guess its like that when you have a building with 11 floors.

Brewster/Boland/Brockway aka BBB has one of the nicest dorms because they were just renovated but beware, this past Monday a student was mugged for her laptop and cell phone by three females.

Shaw has the best dining halls with a variety of food but the dorm rooms are kind of small, especially if you have an open double.Think twice before bringing your whole casa.

If you're an engineering student Lawrinson will be a great place for you in terms of location but if you have classes at NewHouse, Whitman or Hall of Languages be prepared for a journey.

Day and Flint are up a mini Hill surrounded by trees overlooking the city and from what I've heard the scenary is beautiful but it can get creepy at night

Unfortunately for Dellplain, the area around it is under massive construction and I doubt it will be finished by the time the incoming students arrive.

Kimmel/Marion is extremely convenient because of the fast food chain and the computer clusters available. It makes going to the Library a thing of the past. (Thats if you there for computer use)

Thats all I can give you for now.
