263, is good? bad? i don't really know much about the TOEFL...

263 is not a bad score; however, it could hurt you if you are applying to top schools. Do some prep work, and take it again if you can afford it. You can definitely get a 300/300.

i didn't do any prep work what so ever, i registered just 5 days before the exam took place. I'm not applying to a top notch school such as Harvard or Princeton, i'm applying to the student exchange program with a state school in the u.s.

thanks for responding!

263 is good, do not take it again. Infact colleges dismiss you toefl scores as soon as they see you have got 240 +

Minimum score will vary from school to school. For example, Johns Hopkins' MINIMUM score to apply is 250 CBT. Another thing you might want to look at is the average score of the matriculants (if they provide int'l admit statistics, that is...). "The average TOEFL score for international students entering Reed is approximately 650 paper-based and 280 computer-based."

But for state school exchange programs, anything above 240 should suffice...

just write to ur schools asking that u be excused from sending the scores (its a total waste of money)

i never sent my scores to any school even though i got a 277.

just substitute ur SAT verbal. most ppl do better on the toefl, and it could act against u in case of a close call.. so just play it safe and dont send the scores at all

its true that the schools dont really look at your TOEFL as long as you get 250+, the test is purely there to make sure you're gonna understand what the proferssors say in class, a 300 doesnt mean anything to them really

thank you all for responding! since the scores are automatically sent to the specific university i might go to i don't need to send it myself. i hope it will be enough. thanks again.
