Got Q's for UCI, Ask Them

Mysticorion:

it is no way true that just because you go to UCI you will work in SoCal after graduating. People usually do work here, just because they can get interships and job offers right after they graduate and work here in SoCal. Now i live in SoCal and i really like it down here because of the weather and the great environment. Now if you wanted to work up North, there is no reason that an employer would pick a UCD grad over a UCI grad just because they are from UCD. It all goes based on credentials, because each company wants the best worker possible, and they really dont care where they come from.

Any campus hall in Mesa Court is actually good enough for that bio majors. the thing is that there are so many bio majors, that there is bound to be at least about 15 of them per hall, maybe more or a few less. I live in an Academic Excellence hall, which is about roughly half bio majors, about 35 people bio people.
The factor of most social, isnt really based on a certain type of dorm , it just the people who are there and make it up. My dorm is really quiet and not very social at all, while i look at another academic excellence hall, and they are extremely social. So it is really dependent of the people who make it up, and how much you want to get to know the rest of the people there.
Regarding Campus connection halls, there is an optional two unit course offered for them during the fall, winter and spring. quarters. check out this website to get a feel for the dorms in mesa court :

it really breaks down the dorms and explains a lot, and if you want to check out the middle earth dorm site, check this out

how hard is it to switch from bio to civil engineering?

Polite:

all you have to do is check the requirements needed for civil, and then petition for a change of major. more info can be found here : http://changeofmajor.uci.edu/CoM_Engr.html#civil
http://changeofmajor.uci.edu/

the UCI catalogue states:
Change of Major

Each school or program has its own standards for change of major, and some majors are impacted, that is, more students apply than can be accommodated. Once a student selects a major, or decides to change majors, the student should visit the academic counseling office for their prospective major to obtain current information about prerequisites, program planning, and policies and procedures. Information also is available on the Registrar's Web site under How to Change Majors. In addition, a form called the Undergraduate Petition for Change of Major must be completed. The form is available from academic counselors and the Registrar's Office.
All schools with exceptional requirements have major-change criteria approved by the Academic Senate and published on the Division of Undergraduate Education Web site at http://www.due.uci.edu/Change_of_Major.html. Students changing majors may meet the approved major-change criteria of the unit they wish to enter that are in place at the time of their change of major or those in effect up to one year before.

Is it hard to find parking space at UCI? Is it like other campuses which mean that even if you buy a permit you are not guarantee a parking spot? How much do you have to pay quarterly or yearly for parking?

sweetdream:

It isnt too bad to find parking over here at uci. It may not exactly be all that close to your dorm at times, but all that will result is that you may have to park a little further from where you were. If you have a permit for parking, i know that here in Mesa Court, you will have a parking spot for sure, because even though more people have brought their cars, there are still open spots out in both parking lots. check this site out for rates about parking and the rules http://www.parking.uci.edu/permits/studentpermits.cfm
