I got a candidate kit, but what does that hting in the letter mean that EVERYTHING has to be in within 45 days?? What does that mean?

i just got mine too...hmm i'm interested in knowing what that means also....45 days for everything???

When i asked the academy about it last year, they said its for your benifit (45 days)so you can get an early appointment if applicable.

Last year though, march 1st was the deadline.

mee too!.....oiy, havnet read the whole thing though~

I opened my mailbox today and it was jammed in there. I seriously couldn't get it out but eventually I did. There is alot of stuff in here...

wait, so 45 days is not required? It's a recommendation?

BTW, hi I'm hornetguy! In deep like everyone else!

Mine finally came yesterday!!! ::looks through:: Hmm, not much has changed really. All paper work the same, slightly different catalog and new pictures for the PAE.

There are 3 teacher evaluation forms in there (for a math, english, and other subject). How do you get recommendations from people other than teachers (coaches etc.) to send to the academy? do you just send those seperate?

I don't believe they ask for any other letters of recommendation.

you SHOULD get it in within 45 days... it's pretty much on a rolling bases, but in waves, kinda hard to explain, but the earlier the better, but do not sacrifice time for quality.

READY THE APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

u should need ATLEAST 2-3 recommendation letters
a graded essday
etc etc.. there's alot of minute details that I missed that I only found out months after I submitted what I thought was a complete application

I never saw anything about a graded essay, where was this? I'm looking at the booklet of instructions, and I can't find anything about a graded essay.

Yeah...no graded essay.

u should need ATLEAST 2-3 recommendation letters

Are those the teacher evaluation forms? OTherwise ive not heard anything (even last year when i applied) about letters of recomendation...

Yeah..we don't have seperate recommendation forms.

It looks like the application may have been changed up from last year, and tbby2's above post might be a little outdated.

Even last year the application process did not require letter of recomendations. Just the three teacher evaluation forms which can have a breif "recomendation" in the area provided.

However, most sources of nomination require letters of recomendation.

"However, most sources of nomination require letters of recomendation."

Good point to make. While you're busying yourselves with all of the necessary paperwork, be sure you know what you're doing for your nomination and what you're doing to try to get your appointment. They're two diferent steps and require information being sent to different places. Ensure you know the difference so you don't sent unnecessary stuff to the Academy, for instance, and leave out stuff that was supposed to go to your congressman.

And in many cases, the senators and congressmen may have different requirements and even deadlines. Paying attention to those details is really important.

I know for me at least all my nomination stuff has to have already been in. What are the deadlines for everyone else here?

My Deadline was November 1st

My ALO said the 45 days was loose, but to get stuff in when they start really reviewing to speed the process.
