GPA and quarter system

Hello,

I’m looking to transfer from UW to selective schools (BU, tufts, ivy leagues etc) but I’m really concerned about my GPA. My freshman fall quarter I took biology, chemistry, and multivariable calculus, all notoriously hard courses here, and received an overall GPA of 3.333 (3.0 Calc :(, 3.4 biology, 3.6 chemistry). That being said, my HS GPA is near perfect and I attended Phillips Exeter Academy with similarly high testing scores. The reason for performance fall quarter was a combination of new school and severe anxiety which was only accommodated for during testing by finals as the testing office was booked solid most of the quarter. I performed well after midterms however my first round of them (we have two midterms per STEM class) went so poorly I did my best to salvage as much as I could. That being said, I’m on track to get a 3.8-4.0 hopefully this quarter and have been performing well so far, but I’m concerned they will not see these grades as the quarter ends by March 17 and most schools are due March 1st. ECs are iGEM, pre-med society, varsity coxswain for two crew teams outside of UW, ski instructor, and fall quarter I was also a Starbucks barista. I’m incredibly academic I just really struggled to balance my anxiety fall quarter and I’m terrified they won’t see beyond my grades. I’m a really good writer with beyond solid essays, but I know GPAs are extremely important. I will hopefully raise my GPA to a 3.5 or 3.6 by the end of this quarter, will they take that into consideration if I send my winter term grades? I’m hoping by spring I can raise it to a 3.7 but I know decisions will be released before the year ends for me as we are on the quarter system and get out later the first week or two in June depending on finals. Do I have any shot at getting in somewhere competitive?
