Does anyone know how U Md reviews transcripts and GPA's? I know some schools use what is on the transcript sent by your school, others apply their own weighted method, others only use specific classes, and others only use unweighted GPA . How does U Md determine your GPA in deciding admission status (and scholarship)?

I would love to know the details, too. But what I do know is that they do use the transcript sent by your school, look at specific classes - and maybe all of them (that’s part of the details I don’t know) and I’ve been told that they apply that information to come up with their own weighted method. I have been told they do NOT only use unweighted GPA .

Are we able to know ahead of time (vis the net price calculator) if and how much scholarship will likely be awarded?

From what I recall being told at an info session, since every school has their own version of a weighted scale (some are 4.5, 5, 6, and even 7), Maryland recalculates everyone’s gpa based on their own version of a weighted scale.

As for “how much scholarship will likely be awarded,” are you referring to financial aid or merit scholarships? The former is based off of FAFSA applications and the latter is based off of stats.
