Hi, I'm a Junior in high school. Right now, Junior year is almost over. I realized that my GPA has gotten really horrible this year(B's and a C, compared to my previous year's straight A's w/ 1 B). I know I've made many unwise decisions and got myself into a relationship. It distracted me so much. But I know that I have the ability/potentional/personality to be in top notch colleges. So my question is that is there any chance that I still can get into decent colleges, such as Upenn/WashU at St. Louis/Duke.

My EC's are okay, captians/presidents/officers for couple clubs and prestigious team. Varsity tennis, orchestra..etc.

I'm taking the SAT's again in June(got 2050 in January's test T_T, 222 on PSAT). So my goal for June's score is 2250+.
SAT ii's: 800 on Chinese, will take math lvl 2 in May (probably an 800)
Will take SAT II chem in Oct. (probably 700+)

AP's: APUSH(the class that killed my grade), AP Calc BC, AP Statistics, AP Euro, AP Chem(not submitting the AP score). The rest are honors. I will be taking an independent Multi variable Calc course offered by Johns Hopkins or taking AP Computer Science

I will work my butt off on my essays...I think I'll be able to come up with few interesting/different essays ideas.

So...that's basically my resume. How much of a possibility will I be able to make into Upenn/Duke/WashU ? Pleaseeee comment.

well yeah that GPA actually is death possibly. That is a major drop. Why did you slack off so much during the most important year? If you have a good reason, you better tell them. As of now, I would say that you will probably get rejected at all three.

You have all B's and a C? With five classes that's a GPA of 2.8, which is none too impressive, especially if you're applying to top colleges. What's worse is that you have a DOWNWARD trend.

It isn't "death" perse, consider writing a short essay explaining why your grades drop - especially if you have a legitimate reason like a debilitating illness. Also mention that you're doing your best to improve your grades.

<queue evil="" music=""> better get ready for <loud, creepy="" voice=""> STATE SCHOOL MUHUHAHAHAHAHAHA <raucous laughter="" continues="" indefinitely=""></raucous></loud,></queue>

Yeah, hate to say it, but that is a major drop that will affect your admittance at those schools. Unless you have a legit reason (and getting yourself into a relationship isn't one) then it's going to be hard to try and prove to the colleges that you're better than that. All they see is a downward trend GPA, and a drop in class rank. That to them just equals slacking off.

I guess if you do superb first two terms senior year, it would help...but only slightly. Right now, I would just focus on getting back on track, doing well on the SATs, and consider other schools. Not necessarily state schools or anything, just schools that you are interested that are not as prestigious as the ones that you listed.

ohh.. I don't think I would have to go to a state school...unless if it's an honors program. I think I made my grades sound worse than they actually are.. Okay, for the record

I have no C's for final grade, the grade that colleges will see. But I will have a C for a marking period. I don't have all B's either. I predict, reasonably, by the end of the Junior year, I'll probably have 3 courses that have B, 2 of which I am taking this year. My GPA is not going to be a 2.8.. It's going to be somewhere around 94-95 unweighted, and 101-102 weighted, not sure what that is in the 4.0 scale. I will still be in the top 5 btw..just not 1st anymore.

Yeah, I'll try not to freak out by these responses...

Because, I feel as if they are really bad right now. I don't know if I'm overreacting or they are actually really bad. But..either way, I can't really do much about it cries

lol I never said my grades were ALL B's, I just said B's and a C for marking periods. Not for final grades. GPA is 94-95 uw is because I did so well in previous years that it balanced out a bit.. ugh downward trend.
