Ok hi everyone I was wondering what are my chance of going to a four year university out of high school. I have a low gpa,2.0 as of this writing , yet i'm raising it now my junior year. The reason it's so low is because I didn't do homework but tested good all of freshman and sophomore year, although this year I'm doing better having a 3.00 my last semester and mate higher this semester. I've taken the ACT and got a 25 but can probably score a 28 if I retake it. I'm not looking for a competive school just somewhere that offers computer science or game design. Also I've been president of my schools FFA for two years and captain of our track team 2 years, while also doingmany other sports. I'm a first genration immigrant from Mexico with no one attending college in my family besides me. Are there any schools I can get into, so far I've only looked at UOW-Platteville.

Ouch man. That really kills. An upward trend can help, but there is no way that you can effectively alleviate that GPA academically.

So am I out of luck? Even if I can get really great letters from teachers and coaches.

There are schools for everyone. You have two ‘hooks’ ( things that intrigue admissions folk), being Hispanic = under-represented minority (URM) and the first generation thing. Is your guidance counselor helpful? Where do you live (state). Write good essays and study for your SAT or ACT. Both can help with relatively weaker grades. Public state schools may be the best place to start.

I mean, don’t worry, there’ll be some schools that will accept you. Try to get it to at least 2.5.
