So right now, my accumulative GPA is a 3.35… I know, horrible. I did really bad my freshman year (3.0), and a bit better my sophomore year, (3.2). This year, I have a 3.6 so far (3.3 MP1, 3.9 MP2) and hoping to get better during semester 2. Is there any chance for me to get into a good college?
@FalloutWizard Some colleges do not look at freshman GPA when calculating overall GPA, so that is on your side. That means that your current GPA is a 3.4. Not great, but certainly not terrible. You still have time to raise your GPA a bit higher, maybe to a 3.55. That would be on the low end of the spectrum for competitive schools, but you can make up for it with other things. EC’s, essay’s, SAT’s/ACT’s are all taken into account when you apply, so don’t think just because your GPA is not as strong, your application will automatically be overlooked.
Colleges like an upward trend. Work hard on your test scores, and that will also help. You won’t get into the tippy-top of colleges, but you can have plenty of good choices.
I am in the same position as you are
Freshman year just started and I so far have a 3.4 gpa.
Like @manspeak2u said, some colleges do not look at freshman year grades.
Just keep your head up high and you never know what can happen (:
What’s your definition of a “good college”? Do you have any particular schools in mind?
Lots of options!!!
There is another thread for the 3.0-3.3 GPA student that is similarly long and encouraging.
Loren Pope’s Colleges that Change Lives is also a good book for the late blooming student.
@manspeak2u sorry this is really late but the 3.2 GPA sophomore was was accumulative. I had like a 3.4-3.5 sophomore year.
