GPA upward trend

My son's GPA is going to rise considerably with his first semester senior grades in December. He's trying to decide if he should wait to send RD applications and transcripts until the last possible minute so that his newest and best grades can be included.

Or should he just send his applications in as he finishes them, with his present GPA, in hopes that final admissions decisions won't be made until his midyear grade reports are received.

His circumstances are a bit unusual. He transferred to his public school as a junior from a school with no grades. His first semester grades as a junior were not great, second semester much better, this year will be excellent. He's applying to small LAC's where every fraction of a point seems to count.

Thanks for any advice you have on this.

i think for RD, colleges will request midyear reports either way, so it won't matter when he sends in his apps

Thanks, Az.

And this is probably one good reason to avoid applying ED somewhere, isn't it?

He's having a hard time deciding between two schools, so maybe this will settle it.
