I didn't request a GPA verification form --- I didn't know anything about it. I just heard about it now. . . Was my FAFSA basically useless because I didn't turn in my GPA verification form? (There's a tiny change my HS has done it for me... but I heard nothing of it, so I don't think that's a probable case).

Can I submit it with my updated FAFSA, or am I just doomed?

I see that it seems to be a Cal Grant item. It says March 2, 2012. I would imagine that is the deadline and that they don’t accept them late but hey it can’t hurt to send it in.

What you miss out as far as Financial Aid seems to be the Cal Grant. It shouldn’t effect other aid…

I bet that your hightschool sent it in automatically. My daughter’s highschool did and I didn’t even know. Check with them on Monday. I think if the school expected students to request the gpa verif, you would have heard, repeatedly, from the counseling office.

@mum4college I’m hoping that’s the case— I’m honestly surprised that my counselor, whom I’ve met with everyday (schedule arrangements, etc.) did not even mention it once. I understand it’s ultimately my responsibility, but I was just surprised. Thanks - I will definitely check with them Monday.

If your HS automatically sent it, it will show there. Some do, some don’t. The March 2 deadline is a very strict one, though. You will be SOL for Cal Grant if it was not sent before March 2. I have never heard of anyone having any exception made.

It is not always best to rely on others. The information about the necessary documents is online and it is mentioned a number of places what is needed (it’s not fine print is what I mean). I’m not trying to be condescending or anything, but I hope this is a good lesson for you to always do your own research and be clear about dates. I had to learn myself not to push until the last minute (I once submitted FAFSA on March 2). I thankfully was okay, but it was not worth the stress.

Well, I mean it’s also that I don’t exactly need calgrant. . . I haven’t done any scholarships, etc. I only did FAFSA for whatever reason it may be needed in future years.
