Grade Curves?? and easier classes??

Ok so I have read many mention how tough wharton 'grade curves' are. What exactly are these grade curves and what makes them so difficult. I obviously understand that it has something to do with the standard deviation measured from the point of mean position assuming a normal distribution but what's it got that makes it tough?

Also, I am going to be part of the huntsman class next year and though I don't wanna get ahead of myself and already choose my courses (as I know some of my future peers already have :P) but I do want to know if there are certain classes which are generally much much easier or if there are classes which basically give yu easy credits. Please help with these. I do know the IB placement testing table so don't need that but need certain classes which I can test out of and get credits or other classes which are easy. Also, ways whereby I can get credits easily by taking classes which can give me both CAS and wharton credits :)

Thanks a lot!

For the curve, it varies by class. For Wharton core classes it is usually top 25/30% get As, sometimes up to the middle 40% get Bs, and the rest get Cs, D,s etc. Unless you actively seek out a fail, the lowest you’ll get is a C. Unless you don’t bother trying, the lowest you’ll get is a B. The curve only really hurts you in easy classes where the average is a 90+ and dumb mistakes or questionable grading is the difference between the few points separating an A and a B.

Ask your advisor about classes. I think freshman year is pretty strucured.

K venkat thanks a lot!
