I am applying as a transfer student but I am concerned about my GPA. I took three courses over the summer at a big state school and received 2 "As" and a "B+" in Calc 1. This last quarter I received three "As" and a "B-" in Calc 2. Since my only non-As are in Calculus and I am a social science major, will colleges look at my record more favorably than the GPA itself would imply?

Depends on where you are trying to transfer to and how they calculate GPAs. Some Us just could As as 4.0 and all Bs (including B+ and B-) as a 3.0. In any case, do the best you can, since your grades are what they are. Most schools are happy with students that have mostly As on their transcript. Congrats!

I’m applying to top 20 schools from UCSD. Hopefully they look at it that way.
