Grade my essay pretty please! (Imagination vs knowledge)

Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand. —Albert Einstein (1879–1955)

Assignment: What is your view on the above statement? Plan and write an essay in which you develop your point of view on the issue. Support your position with reasoning and examples taken from your reading, studies, experience, or observation.

I would not wholly agree on the notion that imagination trumps knowledge. Instead, the two elements should be integrated to perform the unimaginable. An apt example would be the city island state of Singapore. Lee Kuan Yew, often criticized for his totalitarian approach on government, single-handedly helped raise a nation. He dared to dream of a future in this minuscule piece of land against all odds. However, is has been the government's prudent application of knowledge obtained from around the world, that has helped the country i call home to prosper.

With the dearth of experience and a rag-tag team of leaders chosen to develop Singapore, Mr Lee and his team achieved the greatest of feats that no one would have deemed possible. Singapore was surrounded by hostile nations and was dropped from the plan to merge Singapore and Malaya shortly after its independence. Furthermore, it lacked the natural resources which conferred a comparative advantage to countries and provided a source of income for them. These odds stacked against young Singapore further fanned the flames of doubt that Singapore would not make it on its own. However, Mr Lee obstinately held on to his belief in this island state and imagined a prosperous future for it, which paid off in the end. Today, Singapore has established itself on the world map and has seen unprecedented economic growth in spite of the recent recession that afflicted countries all over the world.

However, Singapore was not built upon our forefather's imagination alone. We had and always will need a competent government to constantly steer Singapore in the right direction. The People's Action party, currently the ruling party in government has taken painstaking efforts to gather information and knowledge around the globe in government and management of a country. For example, the Ministry of Defense was built from scratch. By learning the ropes from elite defense forces like the Israel Defense(MINEF) Forces and the US Army, Singapore now boasts Air, land and sea expertise, with state-of-the-art weaponry to boot. It was only through meticulous planning and information gathering that MINDEF is what it is today.

Thus, knowledge and Imagination both have a part to play in making dreams become reality. However, the impetus of change still lies in imagination which is a powerful tool in the right hands or should I say, the right brain.

Pleas do help me grade my essay. Comments good or bad are greatly appreciated :D

It seems it is more an essay about Mr. Lee and Singapore than about yourself.

****. that was what i felt halfway through the essay. HAHA.

But that is my opinion on imagination and knowledge using the Singapore story as an example. Is it not apt?
