Grade/read my SAT practice essay! (much appreciated!)

Hi there,

I just crafted a mock essay from one of Princeton Review's topic prompts and, me being a non-anglosaxon applicant, I would be really thrilled to hear your opinions about it.

Topic:
"We have strived at every turn to progress, to always push forward. Regression will not be tolerated, nor will stagnation - perseverance our only guiding principle. We will not be satisfied with anything less than progress, for progress is always positive.

Assignment: Do you agree that progress is always positive? In an essay, bla bla bla..."

Here it goes:

"We strive at every turn to progress, to always push forward. Regression will not be tolerated, nor will stagnation - perseverance our only guiding principle. We will not be satisfied with anything less than progress, for progress is always positive.
But is this really the case? When one considers businessmen driven mad by their mobile phones, noxious exhausts from factories or young adults hopelessly addicted to videogames, it becomes clear that there are certain downsides to progress.

Although many people consider mobile phones to be an utterly positive invention, there is an increasing amount of suicides among CEO's and managers often linked to to the stress of having to be constantly available. While it is a good thing to be able to make telephone calls from wherever you are in the world, one must not ignore the adverse effects of portable communications devices.

In the same vein, one must acknowledge the often harmful influence of videogames on young adults. Granted, the invention of the personal computer was an important breakthrough that put sciences lightyears ahead. However, it also brought into being videogame addiction, clearly a negative phenomenon.

Finally, with the proliferation of industry, there are more and more factories pumping their harmful exhausts into our natural environment. As a result, humanity now has to deal with global warming.

In the light of the examples presented above, it is clear that progress most often comes at a cost. Videogame addictions, an increased rate of suicides and pollution show that there are negative side effects to even the most important stepping stones of human progress."

What do you think? I'd much appreciate any comments!
