Grades vrs SSAT

What happens if I have low grades and decent SSATs?

I had
Verbal: 88%
Math: 85%
Reading: 96%
Overall : 94%

For grades I have on average about one or two 7, four 6s and three 5s ( our school goes by a 1-7 scale) so my grades aren't great.

I'm applying to Deerfield and Andover, will my grades count that much? because it is a lot harder getting high grades in the IB program and I think my SSAT score proves I'm not completely useless

Yeh, the IB is hard so that’s definitely something they’ll take into consideration.
Also, your grades arent too bad
but usually, if they see good SSAT, and good everything else, and pretty good grades, + a good rep for your school being difficult+ the IB being difficult, then it shouldn’t matter.

Just wondering, but:
have you gone to summer school at one of these schools/ a well known place? cause if so, that can also help you.
Also, is this your first time taking the SSAT? There is also one in January that you can take, and my score improved a lot from the first to the second time taking it, so consider that

No I haven’t gone to summer school in any of the boarding schools  and it is the first time I took the SSATs but I’m visiting the schools in america during the January test period.

I’m in the same spot as you. Great SSATs, not great grades. But I’m in a really hard magnet program. I think they look less at grades because some schools are easier than others so its not really a reliable way to rank applicants.

I’m the opposite, good grades but one terrible SSAT math score :frowning: 48th percentile

heps, you
re going to get into most of the schools on your list unless you need a tone of FA. All your other scores and grades look great. Don
t worry enjoy the holidays :)

well, you a wabbit, so that automatically disqualifies you for any sort of success in any application
