Grading Options and Course Withdrawal

Hi guys, does anyone know if the College offers the choice of changing a grading option of a course during the middle of a semester?

For example I'm taking a class for a grade (affects GPA), and after the first exam grade I decide that it isn't worth lowering my GPA, can I switch the course to credit/no credit or if I still want to learn but not get graded for it, audit the course instead?

Also, the other option would be to just withdraw from the course, and in this situation it would be a withdrawal with a W on the record. What is everyone's "line" as to making the decision to when to withdraw from the course or to just bear through with it and get a mediocre grade at the end?

In my situation, I got a barely average grade on the exam, and plugging that into the course's grading outline and assuming I do mediocre on the other exams, my final grade works out to being in the C+/B- area (no curve offered). The course only gets harder from here on forth so I expect this outcome to be likely.

Maybe I'm over-reacting because it's such a bad start for a course, but please let me know what you guys think, thanks!

No, you can’t change grading option mid semester. You can withdraw if it’s not past the deadline for that. The deadline is pretty early. You have until the 23rd to decide to do that. I think if you’re passing it’s silly to withdraw. One low grade won’t kill your GPA. I got a C in a class my first year (and a B- the first semester) but after 2nd year got all A’s and ended up Phi Beta Kappa which is basically 3.8+
