Grammatical Errors in Essays = Rejection?

Do you think having grammatical errors, mispelled words etc. in your essays will cost you your admission into a particular UC?

no. First off, the essays are to help you if you are borderline, not bring you down. Secondly, I've seen many successful essays that had numerous grammatical errors.

Good to hear. Not that I've made any grammatical errors in my essays. :eeps: To be honest, I most likely did!

I had at least four typographical errors in my Georgetown essay and I was admitted.

If you find them after submission you can send corrections to: datachng@saonet.ucla.edu
I just found this out. You better do it soon though.

Wait, I send the whole essay? Or just the part that has been revised? Do I need to add any other information like my application ID? I need more info please!!! Hey, that rhymed!

Include full name, DOB, App#,and phone#. I sent entire essay with corrections included. Just tell them which essay and that you wish to amend it.

Be careful of your word count constraints though.

Why is it a UCLA affiliated email address?

Okay, I sent it...

yeah why is it a ucla domain? shouldn't it be ucop?

uhh-yeah that is weird.

We will be able to make revisions in January if I'm not mistaken.

I have another question sort of on this topic. Will they look poorly on formatting errors? The last two words of each of my paragraphs refused to have a space between them and when I tried to add one, it just kicked the second word to the next line . It ended up looking something like this:

I want to be a cultural anthropologist because of an amazing experience I had on my trip to mars last year. the martian army was very

polite.
I hope to someday blah blah blah..................blah....................
blah
blah.

Every paragraph looked like this. Will they penalize me for it?

haha that won't be a big deal peg, they'll understand

gabew42, what kind of revisions? Will we be able to do a complete make-over of our essays? ;) But seriously, where did you hear that from?

If you were too lazy to get your personal statements checked by someone else before you sent it in, you do not deserve to be at UCLA or CAL. PERIOD.

It says when you complete your application that in a month the thing will be up where you can log in and look at your app. It said you will be able to make minor revisions.

Good to hear!

Yeah, I definitely think Pirates got banned!!! No more needless arguments...=)
