I am sitting at a balcony bar overlooking Magazine street across from the Rum House having a drink with my husband and son. Spent the morning in target and bbb (a little overwhelming.) BBB is very organized and the staff is very helpful. Brought everything into the hotel where I organized and labeled all the boxes and crates. We are all ready ! Hope to see you all tomorrow at five!

I’m feeling a little behind… We’re not getting in until 4:30 tomorrow. We plan on doing the BBB thing tomorrow night. D wanted to have a sleepover tonight! Really?

Trying to make sure she hasn’t forgotten anything before we head off to pick up the rental suv (our cars aren’t big enough…), and then go check S16 out from school despite his protests. There’s a possibility we might be down there in time to meet up at the Rum House!

The trip to BBB will have to wait until Saturday after we unload everything at the dorm to make room in the suv and she can decide if there is anything else she might want for her room.

I wish she could be home for a couple of more weeks - 6 weeks wasn’t long enough.

I’m hoping someone can advise me: since the streetcar is still under construction and doesn’t run Uptown, I have two choice: take the bus to Jefferson and transfer, or drive my rental car to Jefferson or thereabouts and park it on the street. I just don’t know what the traffic rules are around here and whether I can actually leave a car on the street for a few hours.

Thoughts? I’m going to check with the hotel staff as well, but thought I’d put it out there to the experienced people.

Hmmm. I vote for bus, personally.

Thanks. That’s what I’m leaning toward. :)

If you decide to drive, here’s a link to a campus parking pass (Diboll Garage or Rosen parking lot) for move-in weekend (it is dated 8/23-8/25)

Just made it into NOLA. Now over to Magazine.
Mavitale, you might try using 3128 Magazine Street NOLA 70118 in your smartphone map app for turn by turn. Buses are great too. Uptown parking is pretty easy just check the signs. Good luck.
See ya’ll soon.

I took the bus/streetcar. I have the rental car for the move-in (and so I was able to go to BB&B) but it was much easier to get around via public transportation today. Went to the Jamie Hayes gallery and to Muriel’s for lunch.

Meeting my son, his roommate and roommate’s mom for dinner tonight! Won’t make it to the Rum House though, so hopefully I’ll connect with some of you another time over the weekend when we figure out where we are. :)

Sitting with vitravc, calmmomif3 and oh2nola at the rum house. Who else is joining us? We r starting to order drinks !

It was sooo nice meeting so many cc friends yesterday! As soon as I stepped in the door I heard “Bloomy,” we took some pix and the kids disappeared for an hour - thought we were crazy:) I hope to run into some of you today!!!

Glad we made it over last night. Nice to put faces to the names of everyone after all these months.
Getting away from the crowds and shopping the Esplanade Mall Target. So cavernous it felt like we had the store to ourselves. Then we just met the parents of another Wall resident. They said the Metairie stores was out of so many things. Hope everyone else is finding what they need.

It was great meeting everyone Friday night. We are on the road heading home after a teary goodbye on my part. Hope y’all enjoy the rest of your stays in NOLA!

Congrats to all of you for surviving one or both event(s). And thanks to Vitrac for the pics from last night, I had fun with you all vicariously. Liked the shirts too. Your kids look happy.

You were there in spirit fallen. We drank a toast in your honor !

Highlight of my weekend! That, and the next episode of Breaking Bad.

I’m bummed that I didn’t meet all you guys at the Rum House. Did get to meet Vitrac at convocation yesterday, though.

Message me to connect with me on FB so we can share photos from the weekend!!

Great move-in weekend! It was all well organized (except when my son’s crates got to his room damaged). LOVED the convocation, rubbing of the bell + the procession w/the Jazz band - that was an awesome tradition! We say our goodbyes today - I don’t think S will ever come home!

I was misty eyed at convocation! When I askedD2 what she thought of it she replied “ugh, it was so long!” It was great seeing my cc buddies (and their friends and families) at rum house, hotel lobbies, restaurants, convocation, etc. it felt like family. I’m getting sentimental in my old age.

I would like to thank my son for choosing such a wonderful college to visit. I spent barely four hours with him this weekend, primarily waiting to eat dinner a Jacques Imo’s, a couple of minutes yesterday after convocation and then a quick goodbye at noon. He seems to have friends and goals. I am sad, but ready for him to begin. Now if he can just get himself to his first class at 11 am, I will be happy again.
