Ground for Appeal

So I got rejected into UC Davis which really sucked as I had my heart set on going there since 6th grade, but I was considering an appeal (even if its a longshot). Just wondering if some people would thing that I should go for it

Stats:
3.58 Regular GPA
3.4 UC GPA
580 Math II
680 US History
1660 Sat
29 ACT
4 years Varsity Wrestler
Team Captain Senior Year
Good ECs
About 100 hours of Volunteer at Youth Wrestling Programs

I looked at my original application and noticed that I put my community service into my EC category by mistake. Also, I was conservative with my total hours. I can get two really good Letters of Recommendation as well. Thoughts or advice? Thanks

Have you looked at the decision factors used by UCD? They do not give any points at all for community service, thus your change would not alter the basis for a decision at all. Nor do they accept new or additional information such as letters of recommendation.

Look this over and if there is some material factor from their decision formula where you think they may not have given you the points you deserved, that would be grounds for an appeal. Best to first see how close you would have been to an acceptance and then if the factor in question would make the difference between reject and admit, an appeal has a reasonable chance. If not, not.

^they do allow letters of rec

there is a link somewhere to the exact appeals process, it is different amongst each UC

I got 7220/7800 cutoff
I think that warrents an appeal…do you?

That whole disadvantaged score sucks…

WhiteApe how did you know your point cutoff?
I called the admissions officer this afternoon (March 24th) and was told that UC Davis
does not reveal the way they assign points to categories and the points available for
categories and such.

It was an estimated point cutoff

I would knock about 150-300 points off if it’s a self-estimate.

Your scores are very low. I don’t think your decision will be reversed. I guess it doesn’t hurt to try though…
