GS Spring 2012 Applicants still waiting

iggs-

I love how supportive you are on this message board.

I agree with AMGAMG, your input is appreciated Iggs. When did you receive the call after they told you the decision will be mailed?

It’s funny because they didn’t even call me with a decision. I got a phone interview and then crickets for almost two weeks. I was beginning to worry because my application was submitted super early, like mid August. I was interviewed only the last week of October. So I guess they really take time with each applicant, or they were just flooded by a ton of applications. In any event, if you feel like you have a competitive chance through either the strength of your academics or essay, don’t give up hope because I guess they really take their time in weighing each application.

…As of this morning, I’m able to log in to the financial aid site. Tentatively hopeful…

@ jcakez

same here. just about everything is the same except i volunteer at the columbia university medical center.

Prior to today, I was not able to log into the financial aid website, but now I am. I would like to believe that I have been accepted, but I am tempering my expectations. Good luck.

Congratulations guys! When you logged into financial aid did you enter your birthday as MMDDYYYY or MM/DD/YYYY?

Thanks giantsfan 10! we’ll see… & yes, the format is MMDDCCYY. So if you were born on the 1st of Jan 1985 you’d enter 01011985.

@ hpolanco21 - Nice to hear from someone with a similar background! Likewise, good luck to you! Keep us posted.

That’s great Jcakez +hpolanco21! I was told the decision is on the way. They are mailing it 2day and I should have by the weekend. Did they call you yet?

Re the financial aid site – in the past I had tried to log in by clicking the new user option under the main log-in, each time I received an error saying my id was not valid. However I just tried the “correct” way, i.e with birth date as password and was welcomed into the site. Does this mean anything? Is everyone able to do this? Has anyone ever not been able to do this?

if you log in you in. congrats

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I’m in! Wow. Feels great.

Congratulationsssss!!! Did they call?

They did. I had just turned up the ringer on my phone here at the office- just in case…within five minutes it rang and it was them.

Just got the call. I’m in!

Congrats AMGAMG

Congrats jcakez!

I’m still waiting, but I have a phone interview scheduled for next week. Any insider tips?

Similar to MuchDua, I was informed my decision would be mailed out today and I will get it on Sat. However I still cannot access the financial aid system. Does anyone know if they would mail rejections even if the are still reviewing other applicants? I would think that rejection letters would be the last to be mailed out. I’m feeling discouraged at this point.

Be honest and communicate energetically (i.e. don’t speak monotone)

Congrats to everyone accepted! I also received the call from admissions stating that I got in. It’s surreal. Can’t wait to take the train into the city tomorrow to buy my Columbia hooded sweatshirt.

@ThaiTB - Like Iggs said, be honest and communicate energetically. If they ask you how will you contribute to Columbia, respond with a student organization or club that shows your interest in the school and also, skills such as research, public speaking, etc.
